Engine, fuel/propulsion systemFiled Oct 14, 2026
As I was driving, the vehicle threw a CEL and I saw the RPM’s fall. This happened multiple times, twice at an all-way stop sign, and once at a major intersection resulting in me being stranded with my vehicle in the middle of an active roadway, unable to move my vehicle. I brought my vehicle into the Chevrolet Dealership and the service department is claiming that I need to pay $1500 for a fuel pump with a CEL code that is not able to be duplicated. There is a TSB 24-NA-139 regarding my issue saying that it is not the fuel pump, it is the fuel pump control module. My issue is that the dealership wants me to pay $1500 for a fuel pump solely off of their “guess” of what the issue is. The bulletin calls out the P102B as one possible code related to the issues. I refused this service since this is just the dealership’s guess of what the issue may be and I believe the fuel pump control module should be replaced for free under the 8yr/80k federal emissions warranty. I requested that the dealership check the module as a part of the $245 diagnosis I paid for and they are insisting that the issue is with the fuel pump.

While driving at a low speed power steering failed. This happened on two separate occasions once while turning into a parking lot the other while doing a u turn. On both occasions I was almost in a crash. The other vehicle had a slam on brakes to avoid my truck. The message on the dashboard was “service power steering drive with care”. The steering wheel is yanked out of my hands each time it loses power. After the ignition is turned off for five minutes the issue is resolved upon restarting the vehicle.

EngineFiled Oct 13, 2026
I am reporting an engine failure on my 2022 Chevrolet Silverado equipped with the 6.2L V8 engine, following completion of NHTSA Safety Recall 25V-274 (GM N252494000). The recall was performed when my vehicle already had over 150,000 miles. At that time, GM performed the oil-and-cap remedy rather than replacing the engine. Approximately 9,000 miles after the recall repair, at approximately 193,000 miles, the engine began making knocking noises and subsequently required replacement. There was no low-oil warning that we observed before the failure ( both in the vehicle nor on the app) and we were not aware of any oil leaks. The vehicle had also been serviced by our local mechanic approximately 3,000 miles before the failure, at which time the mechanic advised that an oil change was not necessary. I am concerned that this failure may be related to the connecting-rod or crankshaft defects identified in the original GM recall and that the recall remedy may not have adequately corrected the problem. I am requesting that NHTSA review this complaint as a possible engine failure following completion of Recall 25V-274 and consider it in its investigation of post-recall engine failures. This vehicle is currently at a dealership waiting for an engine replacement. In speaking with the service manager at this dealership, he agreed that this was related to the recall and actually said to me that he felt that by replacing the oil with the heavier oil (as recommended by the recall), is probably the what caused the engine failure.

Lane departure, back over preventionFiled Oct 8, 2026
I own a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado LTZ Texas Edition with 51,000 miles, equipped with the factory multi-camera system and rear backup camera. The camera images are clear and all cameras function normally, but the forward/reverse guide/trajectory lines no longer appear. When the cameras are activated, a blue hourglass appears in the upper-left corner and the guide lines never load. This is a safety concern because the guide lines help the driver judge the vehicle's path and distance when backing up and maneuvering in tight areas. The loss of this feature reduces the functionality of the factory safety/parking camera system. I took the truck to an authorized GM dealer. They diagnosed a front camera issue and recommended replacing the front camera located under the hood, at a cost of approximately $1,000. I questioned why the camera should be replaced when the camera image itself is clear and functioning normally. The dealer identified DTC B1A68, Failure Code 0x76, and also provided a report showing numerous additional communication faults. The dealer said I should not be concerned about the other codes. Diagnostic codes reported: B1A68 (0x76), U0101, U0102, U0131, U0140, U0146, U0151, U0155, U0265, U0422, U160F, U1610, U1611. I am concerned that replacing the front camera may not correct the actual cause of the missing guide lines, particularly given the multiple communication faults. This could involve the camera system, software, calibration, CAN communication network, or another component. I am requesting that NHTSA document and investigate this complaint as a potential safety-related defect affecting the camera/guide-line system on 2022 Chevrolet Silverado vehicles. I believe the loss of the factory guide lines is a safety concern and could affect a driver's ability to safely judge the vehicle's path while reversing. the camera also doesn't detect cars or people now. my seat use to vibrate I have the dealer's diagnostic report available as supporting documentation.

I have the 6.2l motor and this motor is failing AGAIN. They did the pick test and I did not qualify for the recall. But my truck is making the same noise again before it blew. The Chevy dealership informed me that it was the valve train that was causing the motor to blow. But this is the second motor. How can the second motor have the same problem right? Well this motor is now about to blow and again the dealer said it’s the valve train. The noise is coming from the lifters and the variable valve train and the mechanics of the valve train are what is causing the to blow. This is a main reason why the motors are blowing even after the new oil was changed. I don’t know what’s to do with this truck because it is out of warranty and it is about to fail

These 6.2 Liters are failing and there is no fix. GM claims my motor passed a test but not knowing if and when it will break down leaving me stranded or worse in a horrible accident with engine failure is not safe. My lane assist is now out as well, the version is old and GM wants to charge to update it (only 60k miles on the truck). Top it off with this new recall my oil changes are over $150 for supercar oil. The deprecation of this truck with know recalls is another issue. I can't get rid of this because it isn't worth much anymore. DO NOT BUY GM OR CHEVY!! So sad to see them fail their customer like this.

On September 24, 2026, my 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (5.3L V8, 10-speed automatic) suddenly stopped moving and the steering locked. The truck had to be towed to the Chevrolet dealer. This is a repeat failure. On June 17, 2026, at about 43,700 miles, the truck showed the warning "Service Transmission Now / Unable to Shift Soon" with code P07B4. The dealer ordered part 86277653 (automatic transmission shift control assembly), which was on backorder for weeks. Between June and September the truck was in the shop several times for the same problem and was returned to me as fixed. On September 24 the same failure came back, this time with loss of drive and locked steering. A truck that can suddenly lose drive and steering is a crash risk. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer. The vehicle has been at the dealer since September 24 and it is still not repaired. The complaint has been reported to GM Customer Assistance.

The stereo/infotainment system in my truck attempted to do an over the air update at some point and it failed. Now it is stuck on a screen telling me that I have to take it to a dealership to get it fixed. I did so and there saying that I need a whole new stereo. Just wondering how this isn’t covered by Chevrolet when it’s such a known problem with these stereos. Also while all this is going on and the stereo is stuck on this screen it doesn’t allow any of the infotainment lights to be dimmed and while driving at night this is very dangerous to the driver and others as you cannot see as well with the infotainment system lights brightly shining in the drivers face while driving.

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil, Additionally, the vehicle rattled abnormally and lost motive power intermittently while driving 70-75 MPH on the interstate and while driving uphill. The driver pulled over to the side of the road on several occasions; however, the vehicle stopped in the middle of the road on one occasion while driving uphill. After waiting for several seconds, the vehicle became drivable. The contact stated that the engine was previously replaced twice due to similar failures, after which the vehicle needed to be towed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer, where an oil consumption test was recommended. However, the contact stated that the oil consumption test required driving the vehicle. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Action Number: EA26005 (Engine). The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.

I was sent a notice of a recall regarding a fuel pump, power control module that needs to be taken care of, but it is not being accepted under my VIN number. I believe that there is this issue with my vehicle or something similar because every day I start the vehicle up for the first time and drive it. It is jerking me and does not have proper fuel or proper pressure to move the vehicle without jerking me. After 10 to 15 minutes it cleans up and drives better but then again we’ll redo it if I sit still for multiple hours and restart the vehicle again late in the afternoon it will do it all over.

EngineFiled Sep 23, 2026
My 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country with the 6.2L L87 engine suffered a sudden catastrophic engine failure after passing the inspection for Recall 25V274 at approximately 70,000 miles and being returned to service. While I was pulling into my driveway, the engine abruptly shut off as though the ignition had been turned off. It would crank but would not restart. The sudden loss of propulsion while the vehicle was moving created a safety concern; a similar shutdown in traffic could cause a crash. The Chevrolet dealership disassembled the engine and documented multiple lifters stuck in their bores, requiring excessive force to remove, and deep cylinder-wall scoring that could catch a fingernail. The dealer determined that the block damage required complete engine replacement and replaced the engine. The dealer attributed the failure to lack of oil or improper maintenance and denied recall-related coverage, stating that the failure involved the upper engine rather than the crankshaft or connecting-rod bearings covered by the recall. I strongly dispute the poor-maintenance conclusion. Oil changes were performed regularly. The dealer told me the oil was somewhat low but still within the operating range when the truck arrived after the failure. I ask NHTSA to review this sudden engine failure following completion of Recall 25V274 and whether the recall inspection/remedy adequately addresses the risk of subsequent engine failure. I am not asserting that a particular manufacturing defect caused this failure; the underlying cause remains disputed. Availability of the failed engine for further inspection is unknown.

We were sold a 2022 ZR2 1500 Chevy pickup on 8/14/2026. The dealer disclosed "unknown" on the used car buyer disclosure form. By admission of service department this truck's engine seized in March 2026. A replacement engine was ordered, placed on back order, and arrived to the dealership in August 2026. The service department believed that the repair was done and finished on 8/14/2026, the same date as the purchase. On 8/30/2026, the truck was not running properly, not moving forward despite pressing on the gas, and lots of instrument panel lights. The truck was towed to the dealership and "fixed" They claim it was a fuel injector and separate from the issue regarding the engine.

The vehicle intermittently experiences transmission or drivetrain slipping, shuddering or juddering, and shaking while being driven. The symptoms are inconsistent and there is currently no check-engine warning light. The problem has not yet been diagnosed or confirmed by a dealer. I am concerned that the condition could worsen and cause loss of propulsion, unexpected shifting, or loss of control. The vehicle is equipped with a diesel engine and is within the model family described in NHTSA recall 24V-797 involving transmission control valve wear. The vehicle and affected components are available for inspection upon request.

There was an abnormally loud thumping sound coming from the engine compartment while accelerating. The vehicle was towed to a dealer to be diagnosed; however, cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission fluid needed to be flushed and refilled. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, and an oil leak was found. The contact was informed that a software update was needed, and that several unknown parts in the engine and a wiring harness and oil cooler needed to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

Was driving at highway speeds when truck shuttered and rattled and quickly slowing down. Warning errors on dash stated "Reduced Acceleration, Drive with Care", "Service Emissions System", "Service Traction Control", "Service ESC". Got vehicle to dealer and they confirmed the error code (P0202 - covered under powertrain warranty), but then also noted an error code for P129F where the truck would not start up. They are recommending a replacement of the Fuel Pump Power Control Module. GM had updated a NHTSA bulletin (original: N262558690 - Emissions Recall - Fuel Pump Power Control Module - July 15, 2026) on August 12, 2026 that expanded the population of qualified models to include the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. However, on September 1 they issued an updated notice that said "GM has since identified certain 2022-2023 model year Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles that were erroneously included in this recall and are not affected by the condition." I believe my truck was originally included in the recall, was removed two weeks ago, and now my dealer has subsequently diagnosed a Fuel Pump Power Control Module failure with DTC P129F and recommended replacement This all follows a warranty repair I had to get two weeks ago on my Engine Coolant Control Valve (P1098), which was covered under powertrain warranty

I have had a garage hook it up to a computer to see if it was throwing any codes. It wasn't except a brake sensor. I bought this truck 2 years ago and have nothing but trouble with it shifting and and the dash always says shift to park. this is one of the worst Chevrolet trucks i have ever bought. it only has around 70000 miles on it. I recently took my vehicle in for maintenance work on my transmission. I was informed that my vehicle was showing code P0747 which was under a special coverage warranty by GM. I then took my vehicle to our local GM dealership and was told that my vehicle does not qualify for the special coverage warranty N242454441 because my VIN number was not attached to the parts and the best I could do was contact GM. I reached out to GM to see if I could get a clearer understanding and my claim was denied. I spoke with a very helpful lady that informed me she would have their area technician reach out to me to see what could be done. After a few voicemails he did return my call to let me know GM would not be helping with reimbursement because the VIN was not attached to the part numbers. He ended with telling me that parts wear out and there was no proof that our 2022 Chevrolet Diesel Silverado 1500 was included in the special coverage warranty. I am reaching out because this is the second time we have had issues with trying to get recalls/warranties covered by Chevrolet and not been successful. I am currently looking at GM's special coverage N242454441 - This special coverage covers the condition described above for a period of 15 years or 150,000 miles (240,000km), whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership. Vehicle owners or lessees who paid for repairs referenced in this Special Coverage (“Customers”) are eligible for reimbursement of their reasonable and customary expenses in accordance with the procedures specified below. The conditional right to reimbursement is provided by GM solely in the interest of customer satisfaction and is personal to Customers. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer. Please explain to me why my vehicle is showing this code and once again I am being told I will get no help from Chevrolet? This is a problem and I feel that we fall under this warranty.

I experienced a crankshaft bearing failure while driving my 6.2L V8 Chevrolet Silverado on the highway / freeway. Thankfully I was able to exit highway / freeway to avoid a car collision due to loss of power. My truck was towed to a certified Chevy dealer. This is a known issue for 2019-2026 6.2L V8 L87 engines. The truck was previously inspected by a certified Chevy dealer for prior L87 engine recall. It passed and they changed the oil type to 0w-40. Prior to this event, my truck was at the dealer for a low oil pressure issue / oil pan replacement. I picked it up from the dealer after the vehicle was repaired and drove it for about three days and then experienced the crankshaft bearing failure. No warning lamps illuminated prior to failure. My truck is currently at the dealer waiting for a new engine.

Special Coverage Program" (N242454441 While driving, the vehicle experienced sudden, severe shifting issues and entered a dangerous transmission "Limp Mode" severely limiting vehicle speed and power in live traffic. An OBD-II diagnostic scan retrieved active trouble code P0747 (Pressure Control Solenoid 'A' Stuck On). This indicates a well-documented mechanical defect in the transmission valve body covered under GM Special Coverage Program N242454441. [1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8] Upon contacting my local Chevrolet dealership service department, I was informed that due to catastrophic backlog and part constraints, the dealership cannot physically scan or diagnose the vehicle for six months. The manufacturer's network is actively failing to provide a timely safety remedy for a known powertrain defect, leaving a hazardous, malfunctioning vehicle on the road without a resolution or substitute transportation.

Incident Description:While driving my 2022 Chevrolet Silverado at highway speeds, the front passenger-side bumper outer filler panel (fascia molding) completely detached from the vehicle without warning and flew off into active traffic. The factory plastic mounting clips and tabs failed entirely under normal driving conditions. Because the panel flew directly into the path of trailing vehicles, this defect creates an immediate and severe road hazard that could easily cause a multi-vehicle accident or serious injury. This is a known engineering and structural defect shared across this vehicle platform, yet no safety recall has been issued for the Chevrolet Silverado to protect the public.

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving 55 MPH, the vehicle unexpectedly stalled while attempting to accelerate, with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the rear wheels locked up due to the failure. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road but was unable to exceed 3 MPH. The vehicle was restarted. There was a burning oil odor, but the contact was unsure if the odor was coming from the vehicle or another vehicle nearby. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed, and DTC: P0700 (Transmission Control System) and P2714 (Pressure Control Solenoid Performance/Stuck Off) were retrieved. The contact was informed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure by phone, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for further assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 81,700.

NHTSA VEHICLE SAFETY COMPLAINT Vehicle: 2022 Chevrolet Silverado K1500 Trail Boss Engine: 6.2L V8 VIN: [XXX] Selling Dealer: Harris Hankins Chevrolet, Bay Springs, Mississippi I purchased this 2022 Chevrolet Silverado K1500 Trail Boss from Harris Hankins Chevrolet in Bay Springs, Mississippi. The truck is equipped with the 6.2L V8 engine and has experienced repeated and serious engine failures. The vehicle is currently operating on its third engine. The original factory-installed engine suffered a major engine failure at approximately 27,000 miles. The vehicle was taken to a Chevrolet dealership, where the original engine was replaced. The second engine failed within approximately 30 miles of leaving the dealership following the first engine replacement. This failure resulted in the vehicle requiring another engine replacement. The truck is now operating with its third engine. I have periodically noticed abnormal valvetrain noise coming from this third engine. Considering that the first two engines experienced major failures, I am very concerned that this abnormal valvetrain noise may indicate another developing engine problem or potential engine failure. This 2022 Chevrolet Silverado has therefore experienced two major engine failures at very low mileage and is now on its third engine, which is periodically exhibiting abnormal valvetrain noise. I believe these repeated engine failures represent a serious vehicle safety concern. A sudden engine failure or loss of propulsion while traveling at highway speeds or in traffic could create a dangerous situation for the driver, passengers, and other motorists. I am requesting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) formally document my vehicle’s history and investigate these repeated failures involving the Chevrolet/GM 6.2L V8 engine. The dealership has the service records and repair documentation concerning the previous engine failures and engine replacements. Purchased vehicle in August of 2025 and there was an open recall for engine issues at that time. Took vehicle back to dealership in October or November for dealer to inspect. The vehicle passed the engine test and oil was changed to a heavier weight. From October/November 2025 I’ve been noting that there’s been a significant loss of engine oil prior to scheduled maintenance that requires anywhere between 4-5quart top off every three months or so. Feels like the vehicle is sluggish and has no “get-up”. Also, the Auto Emergency Brake light/system keeps malfunctioning. Even after it’s been replaced several times the light comes back on and you’re not able to control the forward collision gauge.

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 70 MPH on Interstate 10, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to pull the vehicle over; however, the vehicle failed to restart. A battery warning message and a no-start message were displayed. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine was locked due to bearing failure. The engine was replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure via phone call and written letter, and the contact was provided with service points. The failure mileage was approximately 53,874.

Coolant Control Valve is malfunctioning. Running Fans: Loud cooling fans running at full blast shortly after turning off the engine. Extended Warranty Coverage: General Motors issued special coverages (N252508341 / N252508340) extending coolant control valve warranty protection to 15 years or 150,000 miles for select 3.0L Duramax vehicles. Unfortunately, GM says my VIN isn’t covered by the extended warranty even though it has all the same issues as those that are.

July 11, 2026 I experienced a lifter failure. Towed to GM dealer on July 13th. Dealer comfirmed lifter failure and camshaft damage and metal contamination throughout engine. Dealer installed replacement engine using my mechanical breakdown policy since I was out of factory warranty. Picked up truck one month later with new engine and the transmission started slipping and shuttering. Took back to dealer who claimed metal fragments in fluid and said transmission needed to be replaced. I then made a second claim on my mechanical breakdown policy and the dealer replaced the transmission. All of these issues are known issues with the engine and transmission.
