When I purchased my car, I was given an alert from the brake sensor that the front pads needed service. I returned the car to the dealer and they were able to reset the alert. A few months later, I got another alert that the front brake pads were at 18%. My car was still under warranty and the brake sensors in the front were replaced, but the software update was not installed at this time. A few months after that, I got another alert that my front brake pads needed to be replaced. I took it up to the dealership and they finally performed the software update. This time my warranty was out, so I had to pay $424 for the software update for the brake sensors. This should be a recall. There is already a service alert: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

  • SteeringFiled Oct 2, 2026

I was driving down the road and plactic trim piece where super cruise is at top of steering cracked popped off itself with that piece off its hard to steer properly without hitting inside of your hand I have to be careful not to get cut where plastic broke because its sharp. I had around 59900 miles when this happened 2 weeks ago. Cheverolet only sales the whole steering wheel and doesnt offer the 20.00 piece of plastic so the cost is closer to 2000 to get installed and new steering wheel. Ive had vehicle 2 years and 3 mos. Online there are lots of complaints on this and its common evidently. I reached out to cheverolet but they didnt help! I reached out to place where vehicle was purchased and even have there platinum extended warranty hendrix auto guard and said they dont cover trim only things that affect driving vehicle mechanical stuff etc. So even though it just plastic trim and only way to fix is get a new steering wheel they said they cant cover

Master cylinder failure on interstate caused complete loss of braking. No accident. Shop replaced master cylinder per GM bulletin. Warning light for brake assist failure came on and pedal went to the floor. This could’ve ended in a mass casualty situation, thank god we were in wide open territory and could coast to a stop which took over a mile in neutral.

  • Power train, electrical system, service brakesFiled Sep 21, 2026

There has been multiple times that the Brake system fails and different codes on dashboard pop up which makes brakes not work and looses power train , the vehicle has to be put in neutral in order to stop on highways and roads which has put my life in danger

  • Electrical system, vehicle speed control, forward collision avoidanceFiled Sep 17, 2026

A software update caused the warning lights to go on and off despite no issues surrounding the vehicle (lane assist, forward collision warning). While driving on the interstate going 70MPH the forward collision light flashed a warning which then reduced the cars speed from 70MPH to 40MPH within a very short period of time. This is a huge safety concern and no accident happened as there were no other vehicles around at the time.

  • Electrical systemFiled Sep 8, 2026

I have a 2024 chevy traverse. Purchased april 30, 2024. One of the 1st ones ever made. The rear windows no longer work. The switch makes a ticking sound but nothing happens. The front windows sometimes work. Sometimes not. And they pause when going back up. I am aware of GM bulletin 25-na-022 which emcompasses this exact failure for 24/25 chevy traverses. When i called GM Marietta told me thar my vehicle was not included in the bulletin. Even though i have the same exact problem listed in the GM bulletin! This is a documented factory part defect and GM is failing to address their failure. This could be a huge safety concern if we were unable to exit the vehicle though the windows if need be. This has been going on for months. My chevy dealership charged me 100 to just look at it and say it needs work.

  • Electrical system, service brakesFiled Sep 3, 2026

The Defective Software Trigger: vehicle’s dashboard Brake Pad Life Monitor indicated the pads were low showing 19% roughly 3.5-4mm remaning life. Upon arrival to the dealership, I was informed that my rotors would also need to be resurfaced. I contested a mandatory rotor resurfacing policy. I openly disagreed with this arbitrary "store policy" but was forced to comply to get my vehicle serviced. The dealership stated they would refuse to replace the pads unless I paid out-of-pocket for an unnecessary resurfacing. The technician measured my pads at 7mm (over 60% of usable life remaining). My vehicle did not need brakes; it was suffering from a known factory software bug detailed in GM Bulletin 25-NA-029. Rather than identifying this warranty glitch, I was forced to pay for unnecessary vehicle repairs. The technician machined my front rotors and installed new pads. On my way home, the vehicle exhibited severe, violent steering wheel shaking under braking at highway speeds. The technician completely failed to check for runout or machine the rotors evenly. I was forced to drive 90 miles home with a violently vibrating steering system. I called the dealership but the facility was closed. To correct a severe safety hazard caused entirely by the shop, I had to drive an additional 90 miles back to the dealership (a 180-mile total round trip) on compromised brakes. I requested that the dealership replace the ruined rotors and pads at their expense. Management refused instead, to force the shaking to stop and avoid paying for hardware, the dealership refunded the original resurfacing fee (Driver side rotor 29.89mm to 1st resurface 29.20m- Passenger side 29.80mm to 1st resurface 29.25mm) and machined my front J61 rotors a Second time, cutting them down to 27.80mm Driver side and 27.59 mm on my passenger side. I have contacted corporate but I've had no resolution.

I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE FOR ALMOST GOING ON 2 YEARS I WENT FROM A CAR THAT I HAD ISSUES WITH TO A BRAND NEW VEHICLE WITH ISSUES/REPAIRS NEEDED ON. NOTHING HAS BEEN RECALLED ON MY VEHICLE AT ALL AND IT SHOULD BE RECALLED ON MY VEHICLE I HAVE HAD A LOT OF ISSUES W/ MY VEHICLE AND I SHOULD NOT, NOW THERE IS ANOTHER ISSUE W/ THE DRIVERS WINDOW BUTTON WHERE IT GETS STUCK DOES NOT PUT THE WINDOW DOWN OR WORKS ONLY SOMETIMES I FOUND INFO ABOUT IT General Motors Technical Service Bulletin GM TSB 25-NA-022 addresses problems where the driver's door window gets stuck or works only sometimes. The driver window may not roll up or down, or it may stop working after you press the button. HOW IS THAT NOT KNOWN ISSUE FOR MY VEHICLE VIN I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE DEALING WITH THESE KNOWN PROBLEMS ON A BRAND NEW ALMOST 2 YEARS OLD VEHICLE AT ALL ITS FRUSTRATING TO DEAL WITH VEHICLE PROBLEMS WITH A BRAND NEW PURCHASED VEHICLE ANOTHER ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE IS THE BRAKES THAT SQUEAK OF COURSE GM SAID UNLESS I WAS UNDER CERTAIN MILEAGE IT CAN BE FIXED LIKE HOW IS THAT EVEN FAIR FOR THE OWNER TO EVEN HANDLE ON THEIR OWN OUT OF POCKET COST. THIS IS INSANELY CRAZY TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH KNOWN ISSUES ON A VEHICLE AND NOTHING CAN EVEN BEEN DONE . YOU ALL NEED TO LOOK INTO MY VIN # AND FIND THE ISSUE WITH THE General Motors Technical Service Bulletin GM TSB 25-NA-022 Driver Window Stuck or Intermittent Operation Concerns BUT OF COURSE MY VEHICLE VIN HAS NOT EVEN BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS SPECIFIC PROBLEM BUT IT IS KNOWN ISSUE? HOW DOES THAT EVEN MAKE SENSE AT ALL? YOU ALL NEED TO LOOK INTO MY VEHICLE WITH THESE ISSUES

  • Service brakes, hydraulic, electrical system, latches/locks/linkagesFiled Aug 24, 2026

The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that the rear driver's side window failed to open or close while depressing the buttons on the driver's door and on the passenger's door to control the window. While depressing the brake pedal to attempt to slow down, and while in reverse, the brakes were squeaking. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for the window failure. The dealer diagnosed that the brake pads had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 43,632.

There was a sent out that GM dealers needed to at no cost provide the software update to several vehicles due to a software issue that puts out an emergency warning that the brakes are wearing and are critically low when in fact they are not. Without the new software vehicle owners cannot manually reset the notification even after changing their brakes. I recently took my truck to David Chevrolet who advised me I needed to pay $193 for this software update which goes against the notice from GM and the DOT. I’m now driving without my brake monitoring system on because the dealership will not update my software. I’m filing a complaint because I should not need my brakes changed again by the dealership as I have already replaced perfectly good brakes because I didn’t know there was a software problem. My vehicle is well under the 36k mile and is only two years old.

    • Electrical system, engine, fuel/propulsion systemFiled Aug 8, 2026

I am reporting a serious safety incident involving my 2024 Chevrolet Traverse RS AWD, with approximately 34,378 miles. On or about [XXX], while the vehicle was being driven near Sarasota Florida at approximately 25 mph, it suddenly lost propulsion and all electrical power. The instrument panel, displays and vehicle electrical systems went completely dark. The vehicle was completely dead and would not restart. Police subsequently jump-started it, but the vehicle’s systems did not initially operate normally. This vehicle previously experienced another complete electrical-power failure while parked overnight, and the dealership has a record of that incident. Following the in-motion shutdown, the dealership performed a complete software flash using USB and stated that a software problem may have caused a parasitic battery draw. I understand how a parasitic draw could discharge the battery while the vehicle is parked. However, I have not received an adequate explanation of why the vehicle lost all electrical power while the engine was running and the charging system should have been supplying power. I am requesting that General Motors open a formal product-safety case, review the dealership’s diagnostic and programming records, determine the complete cause of the in-motion shutdown, and provide written confirmation of the tests and repairs performed. Please provide me with the GM case number and escalate the matter for appropriate technical or field review. VEHICLE: 2024/2025 Chevrolet Traverse RS COMPONENT: Electronic eBoost Brake Master Cylinder Assembly DESCRIPTION: Within a few months of purchasing the vehicle, the brake pedal began exhibiting excessive free play (long pedal travel) and significantly delayed stopping behavior, particularly dangerous at highway speeds. The vehicle requires substantially more stopping distance than normal, creating an imminent rear-end collision risk. This defect has been brought to the dealership's attention twice already. The vehicle was just serviced and returned for this same issue. After each service visit, the brakes temporarily function normally for only 500 to 1,000 miles before the dangerous delayed braking behavior returns. Previous dealer repairs included bleeding the brake lines and updating the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) software — both failed to permanently resolve the issue. The root cause appears to be an internal bypass leak within the electronic eBoost brake master cylinder assembly, where defective internal rubber cartridge seals allow pressurized fluid to slip past them over time, progressively degrading braking performance until the next service intervention. This is a REPEAT safety failure. The vehicle has been serviced for this identical brake defect TWICE, and the condition returns each time within 500–1,000 miles of the repair. This issue is documented under GM Service Update N242482170 and TSB 25-NA-029, and is the subject of active class-action litigation affecting 2024–2025 GM SUVs. The driver and all vehicle occupants are placed at serious risk of injury or death due to the inability to stop the vehicle within a safe distance during normal highway driving conditions.

    • Electrical system, service brakes, forward collision avoidanceFiled Jul 17, 2026

Vehicle: 2024 Chevrolet Traverse Z71 Mileage at first incident: 25,821 My 2024 Chevrolet Traverse Z71 experienced multiple safety‑critical electrical and ADAS failures. The vehicle had a Reduced Acceleration / limp‑mode event, accompanied by a strong antifreeze odor inside and outside the vehicle. Dealer diagnostics on 06/29/2026 and 07/16/2026 confirmed several trouble codes affecting the engine, braking system, and collision‑avoidance systems. The following diagnostic trouble codes were recorded: P3705 – Engine Coolant Pump Control Circuit Low (engine cooling fault) C0609 – Park Brake Actuator / Switch Signal Fault (brake system logic fault)-Active 6.29.26 10:12:43AM U160A – Lost Communication With Serial Data Gateway Module (CAN‑bus gateway failure)-Active 6.29.26 10:12:43AM U197A – Lost Communication With Front Radar Sensor Module (forward collision warning / AEB disabled)-Active 6.29.26 10:12:43AM These faults caused loss of radar‑based safety features, including Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Adaptive Cruise Control. The vehicle displayed warnings and temporarily disabled ADAS functions. The Reduced Acceleration event created a hazardous situation in traffic. The dealer attributed the incident to “low coolant,” but the diagnostic codes clearly show electrical and communication failures across multiple safety‑critical modules. The antifreeze odor continues, suggesting a possible coolant leak or unresolved cooling system issue. The vehicle has been inspected by GM technicians, and the codes were documented on both visits but they say car is fine. The safety systems affected include brakes, engine cooling, electrical CAN‑bus communication, and collision‑avoidance radar modules. I am requesting NHTSA to record this complaint and evaluate whether these failures represent a broader safety defect in the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse Z71.

    • Back over prevention, forward collision avoidanceFiled Dec 2, 2024

I am writing to report a serious safety concern with my newly purchased. I believe this issue, if unaddressed, could lead to accidents. Specifically, when I am stopped at a stop sign with another vehicle behind me and the light changes to green, I begin to drive forward. However, as the vehicle behind me starts moving toward me, my car suddenly and violently applies the brakes. The force is so strong that it feels as if I've been rear-ended. This abrupt braking creates a dangerous situation as it increases the likelihood of me being rear-ended by the car behind me. It is important to note that I am in "Drive" mode and moving forward, not in reverse, so I would not expect the car to brake under these circumstances. This issue is not isolated, and I have experienced similar sudden braking on several occasions, but this scenario is the most concerning due to the potential for accidents. I took the car to the dealership, assuming it might be a programming error. However, the dealership informed me that this is a known issue with this model, but no recall has been issued to address it. I strongly urge the NTSB to investigate this matter further, as I believe it poses a significant safety risk to drivers and passengers. Thank you for your attention to this issue.

    • Forward collision avoidanceFiled Nov 21, 2024

The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated while driving approximately 15 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed, and the vehicle jolted forward with two unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the Forward Collision Avoidance and 4WD Unavailable messages were displayed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the "Rear Driver Side Sensor" needed to be replaced. The contact stated that two different parts for the rear sensor were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 2,631.

on multiple occasions now this vehicle has applied automatic braking for no apparant reason. the vehicle has applied an extreme braking scenario. And applied the full brakes causing the vehicle to skid and extremely jar the interior passengers. this automatic braking was almost like driving the vehicle into a wall as it was immediately stopped. in the latest instance the vehicle behind me was barely able to avoid running into the rear of my vehicle.

    • Forward collision avoidance, back over preventionFiled Jun 21, 2024

      1. When reversing, the emergency braking is very sensitive. On 6/20, it was pouring rain and every time I tried to back out the car kept slamming on the brakes thinking there was an object in the way. it also happened when we were leaving an appointment that same day. It wasn’t pouring rain, but rain was dripping down the back of the car and the car slammed on the brakes at least 5 times trying to back out. This also happened before when backing put of a parking spot and there was a shadow behind my car. The car kept slamming on the brakes thinking there was an object there. 2. Very jolting and unexpected movements. Not safe when trying to back out. 3. Unable to reproduce at the dealer. Took to the dealership on 6/20 after this happened. It was no longer pouring rain at that time, so was unable to reproduce the issue. 4. No inspection. The dealership did look at the sensors to make sure they weren’t pushed in or obstructed. 5. No warning prior to the issue.
