A software error may cause the rearview camera to display a blank image, or the image may remain on the display after the backing event has ended.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2016-2019 Lincoln MKC, 2016-2023 Explorer, 2019-2020 Fusion, 2019-2024 Ranger, 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair, Escape, 2021-2024 Bronco, Bronco Sport, and 2022-2024 Maverick vehicles. The engine block heater may crack and develop a coolant leak, causing it to short circuit when the block heater is plugged in.

2019 Ford Fusion Hybrid SE. Vehicle experienced a “Stop Safely Now” warning with hybrid system shutdown, occurring both while driving and while parked/idling, causing jerking symptoms. This puts driver and other roadway users at risk, as loss of power/propulsion can occur without warning while in motion. Vehicle also set a P0073 (ambient air temperature sensor circuit high) fault code. The ambient air temperature sensor was replaced (Ford part numbers AU5Z-12A647-B / FC4Z-12A647-A) but the underlying issue has not been fully resolved and diagnostics are ongoing. Vehicle also had a prior transmission replacement (January 2023). Vehicle has also had extreme, unresolved electrical issues: fuses repeatedly burning out, lights burning out, two horns replaced due to failure, backup camera display turning blue/failing, and dashboard warning lights randomly illuminating. The dealership has confirmed electrical issues are occurring but has not been able to identify the root cause despite inspection. Issue has been confirmed/reproduced by a dealer. Vehicle and components are available for inspection upon request. Exact onset date of symptoms is UNKNOWN, but warning lamps and jerking preceded the “Stop Safely Now” shutdown events.* problems have been ongoing since purchase of the vehicle in 2019. STEERING

I have a 2019 Ford Fusion. The bolt holding the steering wheel to the steering shaft has come loose. in May 2018 there was a recall for this same loose steering wheel issue on 2014-2018 versions of the Fusion. There is no loose steering wheel recall for the 2019 Fusion. Ford's remedy for the loose steering wheel was replacing the bolt holding the steering wheel to the steering shaft with a longer bolt on the 2014-2018 Fusions. I would expect the longer bolt was used in production in my 2019 Fusion steering, and that's why it is not recalled. But that longer bolt has also come loose like the older shorter bolts. This would make me suspect the repaired older recalled Fusion steering wheels could eventually come loose again just like my steering wheel did.

POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Backup camera keeps going blank with a blue screen also back up camera stays on for a few seconds while driving then the screen turns blue having to do a soft factory reset to the system. Transmission shifts prematurely or kicks down weird. Shifting from park to drive makes a klunk and clicking sound not smooth or quiet at all.

ENGINE

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to Auto Zone where it was connected to a diagnostic machine and failure codes retrieved indicated that the failure was cylinder failure and a coil pack. The contact was informed that the cylinders and coil pack needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with cylinder and head gasket failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The failure mileage was approximately 143,000.

ENGINE

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH, there was an abnormal rattling sound coming from the engine compartment. While the vehicle was stopped, the vehicle started shaking abnormally. On one occasion, while driving 10 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was not able to be restarted and remained at the location for almost a week. The vehicle was then towed to the residence. The vehicle was taken to a dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the flex plate was cracked and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 101,000.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that upon start the vehicle, the engine was misfiring. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the head gasket was faulty and needed to be replaced. Additionally, the engine needed to be replaced due to coolant intrusion. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 108,000.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the engine overheated with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who replaced the water pump however, the failure persisted. The cause of the failure was not yet determined, and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 75,000.

The contact's husband replaced the spark plugs and ignition coils; however, several days later, the failure reoccurred, and the spark plugs, and ignition coils were replaced an additional three separate times due to the persistent failure. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where a diagnostic test indicated that there was coolant intrusion into cylinder #3. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The contact was then referred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 94,000.

The contact’s daughter owns a 2019 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, the messages "Engine Overheated" and "Service Now” were displayed. The contact’s daughter attempted to drive the vehicle, but the vehicle had shifted into "LIMP Mode". The vehicle was pulled over into a parking lot and restarted, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the residence where a handheld diagnostic machine retrieved information that the cylinder head was over temperature. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
