Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Accord and HR-V vehicles. The front seat belt pretensioners may be missing the rivet that secures the quick connector and wire plate. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 208, "Occupant Crash Protection," 209, "Seat Belt Assembles," and 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages."

Sticky and unresponsive steering accompanied by loud clicking in the steering rack and gear box.

SEAT BELTS

The contact owns a 2023 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, smoke started coming from underneath the front driver’s side seat. The contact looked down and became aware that the front driver’s side seat belt anchor had caught fire. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle had been involved in a crash prior to the fire, and the front passenger’s side of the vehicle had crashed into rear left door of another vehicle. No injuries were sustained, and no medical attention was needed. The contact exited the vehicle and contacted the local Fire Department. The Fire Department arrived on the scene and extinguished the fire. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

STEERING

Sticky steering at center position" Notchy/Clicking feeling when turning past center point"。（"A noticeable catch and clicking noise when steering wheel passes through the center position"）。"This failure causes inconsistent steering effort and poses a potential safety risk, especially for high-mileage commercial drivers like Uber."

SUSPENSION,TIRES

The contact's fiancée owns a 2023 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the rear tires showed severe inner wear and damage due to a misalignment, requiring three sets of rear tires to be replaced within a year. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, who notified the manufacturer of the failure; however, the technical engineer denied assistance. The dealer informed the contact that the lower control arms needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that the tire repair kit bottle cap detached while inflating a tire. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V366000 (Tires); which was associated with the tire repair kit failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000.

STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

I own a 2023 Honda Accord Touring Hybrid. At approximately 42,000 miles, all of the warning lights illuminated while driving. The warnings included Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, Parking Collision Warning, and multiple other system alerts. At the same time, I experienced a loss of electric power steering assist, increased steering resistance, and clicking/popping noises coming from the steering rack. The Honda dealer diagnosed the vehicle with a failed Electric Power Steering (EPS) steering rack and quoted nearly $5,000 for the repair. A critical steering component should not fail at such low mileage. This is a serious safety concern because the failure affects the driver's ability to safely control the vehicle. Similar steering components have been recalled on other Honda models, but the 2023 Honda Accord has not been included. I believe this defect should be investigated before it results in crashes or injuries.

POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

While driving my 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid, the vehicle suddenly displayed multiple warning messages, including a Check Engine Light, and immediately entered limp mode. Engine power was significantly reduced, making it difficult to accelerate and safely keep up with surrounding traffic. This unexpected loss of power created a potential safety hazard because the vehicle could not respond normally to throttle input. The vehicle was diagnosed by an authorized Honda dealership. The dealer confirmed Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P2101 and determined that the throttle body assembly had failed. The throttle body assembly and gasket were replaced, and a software update was also performed before the vehicle could be safely driven again. I paid approximately $670.34 for the repair at the Honda dealership. After researching this issue, I found reports from other owners of recent Honda Accord Hybrid vehicles experiencing similar P2101 throttle body failures resulting in limp mode. I am submitting this complaint because an unexpected throttle body failure that causes a vehicle to enter limp mode while driving may present a safety risk, especially if it occurs in traffic or during highway driving. I believe this issue should be reviewed to determine whether it affects additional vehicles.

LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

The car has continually asked to to be updated through the driver control center screen. IT states that this is a dealer update and must be brought in to have this done. Until this update is completed the above systems will not work. I have brought the car in for the lat 25k miles 4 oil changes and have been told each time that it has been fixed. It still has not been fixed, and the dealer is telling me there is nothing they can do. This is definitely a safety issue as these important systems are not working.

STEERING

Before the collision, while turning left from a complete stop, the steering wheel suddenly became extremely stiff and would not turn normally. There were no dashboard warning lights (no EPS, brake, or hybrid warnings). The steering problem occurred before impact and contributed to the head-on collision.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Component/System: Integrated Control Module (ICM) CPU — software defect identified under NHTSA Recall 25V-785 (Honda Recall TN2). The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: While driving on a California highway, I attempted to accelerate to pass another vehicle and the car failed to accelerate normally — it did not respond with expected drive power. This is consistent with the recall defect, which states the ICM CPU can reset while the vehicle is in operation, causing the vehicle to lose drive power and increasing the risk of a crash. This occurred at highway speed with other vehicles present, creating an immediate danger. Dealer Confirmation: I have visited an authorized Honda dealership twice regarding this recall — once upon receiving the recall notification in November 2025, and again in January 2026 during a scheduled oil change. On both occasions, the dealer confirmed the recall was on file for my vehicle but stated they did not have the software or equipment available to perform the remedy. The repair has not been completed as of the date of this complaint, June 26, 2026 — more than seven months after the recall was issued. Inspections by Other Parties: The vehicle has not been inspected by police, insurance representatives, or other outside parties in connection with this issue. Warning Lamps or Prior Symptoms: No warning lamps or dashboard messages appeared prior to or during the acceleration failure incident. The recall defect relates to an internal software condition that does not appear to trigger a visible warning before the power loss occurs. The highway incident described above is the only symptom I have personally observed that may be connected to this defect.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

There were no warning lamps or messages prior to the failure. My family was out of town, when the fire occurred. However, the neighbors were home and their home also sustained some damage. My home was a total loss. On June 16, 2026 I received a call while out of town that my home was on fire and it was a total loss. Statements from the neighbors and fire marshal were that the garage was on fire and then spread to the rest of the home. The only thing in the garage that could have started the fire was my Hybrid vehicle.
