The affected vehicles may have been assembled with improperly torqued connecting rod bolts, which can cause the engine to lose power or leak oil.

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2013-2015 Accord vehicles equipped with a 4-cylinder engine and a continuously-variable transmission that were originally sold, or ever registered, in Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. The drive shafts were assembled with a lubricant that may have degraded the drive shafts' protective coating, making it more susceptible to damage from road salt or other contaminants, and potentially cause it to break.

The fuel pump inside the fuel tank may fail.

SERVICE BRAKES

The original ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) module in my 2014 Honda Accord failed approximately 3 years ago. The ABS warning light came on and the system stopped functioning properly. ABS modules are designed to last the life of the vehicle, but this one failed after just a few years of normal use. Due to the high cost of a new OEM module, I purchased a used Honda ABS module from a junkyard as a replacement. The replacement module is now also failing with the same symptoms (ABS warning light, loss of ABS function). This indicates a systemic defect in the module design rather than an isolated failure. When searching for another replacement, I called multiple used car parts suppliers and they informed me they are completely out of stock for 2014 Accord ABS modules and have received numerous calls about this specific part. Safety risk: ABS failure compromises braking safety, especially in emergency stops or on wet/slippery roads. Without ABS, the vehicle is at increased risk of skidding and loss of control during hard braking. Multiple owners of 2014 Honda Accord report the same ABS module failure at similar mileage/age, suggesting this is a widespread manufacturing defect affecting this model year.

Safety Complaint: Total Electric Power Steering Failure – 2014 Honda Accord Touring V6 I own a 2014 Honda Accord Touring V6 with approximately 130,000 miles. The vehicle is currently out of warranty. On XXX, while driving at highway speed, the vehicle suddenly experienced a total loss of power steering. The steering became locked, and we barely had enough time to safely move the vehicle to the shoulder of the highway. This was an extremely dangerous situation and could have resulted in a serious accident, injury, or death. The vehicle is currently unsafe to drive because of the steering failure. A Honda dealer has quoted thousands of dollars to repair the vehicle. The Electric Power Steering (EPS) Module/Computer, part number 39980-T2G-305, alone was quoted at approximately 743, in addition to approximately 238 in dealer diagnostic fees and labor, which could itself exceed 1,000. I am concerned that Honda has not issued a safety recall for this potentially dangerous steering failure, despite this issue reportedly occurring in multiple Honda vehicles, including vehicles other than the Accord. Honda has issued a technical service bulletin regarding the issue, but a bulletin does not provide the same remedy or consumer protection as a safety recall. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this potentially serious safety defect and intervene to help ensure that affected vehicles are properly repaired. A sudden and complete loss of steering assistance, particularly at highway speeds, presents an extremely serious safety hazard to the occupants of the vehicle and other motorists. NOTE : I also humbly request NHTSA to intervene and help us getting the car fixed which is currently unsafe to drive with steering locked. Attached is the quote from local Honda Dealer in [XXX]. The steering wheel of the 2014 Honda Accord feels heavy all of a sudden.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2014 Honda Accord. It was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a dealer sale. At the time of the purchase, the mileage was 149,010 and at the time of checking a Carfax report, it was discovered that the last mileage on the vehicle was 284,000.

when driving the vehicle 7/25/26 my fcw/brake light came on. I felt very insecure for safety reasons and we contacted a local mechanic who specializes in honda and foreign vehicles. We have photos and invoices from the auto shop and we had to rent a vehicle. We are rited with 1 vehicle and my wife was going to visit her mother.

The ABS module is designed to fail after an extended period of time, leaving the owner to drive in dangerous conditions unless they pay thousands of dollars for the necessary repairs. This is essentially extortion, and the owners need to be held accountable. Our society runs the risk of being ran by parasitic, profit-driven, morally bankrupt individuals unless the issue is resolved appropriately. Thank you!

POWER TRAIN

The driver front left driveshaft inboard joint has started making noise when putting the car into drive, reverse, and taking off from a stop. The part is currently installed in the car and is not available for inspection. It has been inspected by an OEM dealership and confirmed to have play in the driveshaft. It has not been inspected by anyone else. Upon research, I found NHTSA recall 20V769000 that concerns this exact issue. The inboard and outboard joints are rusting and is allowing moisture to get inside of the joint. My VIN did have the open recall in 2021. The vehicle was inspected by an OEM dealer in March, 2021 for a clicking noise that I could not replicate at the time. The dealer confirmed that the recall inspection they did in March, 2021 was inspected, but the driveshafts were not replaced. The noise is now consistent and can be replicated.

STEERING

2014 Honda Accord Hybrid experienced a sudden, complete loss of electric power steering assist immediately upon vehicle startup, illuminating the EPS dash warning light. The steering became extremely heavy and physically difficult to turn, rendering the vehicle unsafe to operate on public roads. An onboard diagnostic check retrieved a hard Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) 53, which explicitly indicates an EPS Torque Sensor failure. Honda is fully aware of this defect and issued Service Bulletin 15-056 (Sep. 2018), which extends the EPS warranty to 13 years for this exact year and model. However, when checking my vehicle's 17-digit VIN, Honda's database excludes my car from the coverage range. This vehicle is suffering from the identical manufacturing defect and component failure outlined in Bulletin 15-056, but I am locked out of the safety repair solely due to an arbitrary VIN database boundary. I am filing this report because the underlying safety defect clearly extends beyond Honda's designated VIN cut-off range.

STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES

The VSA module failed, causing 5 warning lights to illuminate. This module controls ABS, traction control, and power steering. All of these systems involve the safe operation of the vehicle. The module failed due to a flawed design; the module contains 20-30 very fine connecting wires that frequently break due to vibration and temperature changes. VBS module failures are extremely common on 2008-20017 Honda Accords. Honda charges up to $4,000 to repair their flawed design to return the car to a safe operating condition. It is unconscionable that the consumer should have to pay such an expense to repair their mistake or to drive the car as is, and risk a catastrophic failure. A recall for these modules should be declared to protect the public from accident and injury.
