I am reporting a critical structural suspension failure and dealer safety negligence on my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee (30,000 miles, clean title). Sequence of Events & Safety Hazards: 1. July 7 & July 13, 2026: I brought the vehicle to the authorized Jeep dealership Suburban Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Troy because a rear splash shield was hanging. The technician zip-tied it first, then completely removed the shield on July 13, claiming it was "unimportant," without diagnosing why it fell. 2. October 3, 2026: I received an official FCA recall notice regarding rear suspension safety. 3. October 5, 7, and 9, 2026: I contacted FCA Customer Care 3 separate times to report the suspension defect and safety concerns. 4. October 7, 2026 Inspection: I brought the car to the dealership for inspection per FCA guidance. The dealership diagnosed a broken right rear suspension bracket at the exact spot where the shield was removed. 5. Dealer Negligence: Despite diagnosing a snapped structural suspension bracket, the dealership repeatedly instructed me (3 to 4 times) to drive the vehicle back home with my young child inside. They only agreed to hold the vehicle after I firmly refused to drive such a hazardous car. Safety Concern: A structural suspension bracket snapping under normal road use at only 30,000 miles represents a severe manufacturing defect and safety risk that could lead to loss of vehicle control. Furthermore, the dealership's refusal to hold the vehicle initially demonstrates extreme disregard for child and road safety.

SeatsFiled Aug 31, 2026
My 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe has developed a recurring safety defect involving the front passenger seat lumbar-support system. Without any input from the passenger or driver, the pneumatic lumbar bladder will randomly begin inflating and continue until it reaches maximum inflation. When this occurs, the lumbar support protrudes significantly into the seatback and forces the passenger’s torso forward from the normal seated position. The passenger cannot reliably stop or reverse the inflation using the seat controls. This can interfere with proper seating posture and seat-belt positioning and creates a potential safety risk, particularly if the malfunction occurs while the vehicle is moving. There is no readily accessible owner method to manually vent or deflate the bladder when it becomes stuck. Correcting it directly would require disassembling the seat or accessing pneumatic components, potentially affecting warranty coverage. As a result, the passenger seat can become effectively unusable until the vehicle is serviced. The malfunction is unexpected, can distract the driver and passenger, and physically alters the occupant’s seating position without command. I believe this is more than a comfort issue and represents a potential safety defect in the powered/pneumatic seat system. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether similar unintended lumbar inflation failures are occurring in other 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee 4xe vehicles and whether manufacturer corrective action or a recall is warranted.

The Evaporator AC Core/Expansion valve was faulty, which is VERY common in these vehicles. The dealership fixed it (still has a noise so not 100% sure if it was fixed or if it's another faulty one). Leaking air conditioner refrigerant is hazardous to both human health and the environment. When these things leak it releases toxic chemicals into the air and atmosphere. The dealership confirmed the issue and fixed it which took 5 days to do and a TON of hours which cost me over $3000. I have complained to Jeep/Chrysler and they will do nothing. It should be a recall in these vehicles and the consumer should not have to pay for bad/faulty parts. My vehicle was inspected by two dealerships to get second opinions. I was told by the dealerships they are doing these repairs more than they would like to say. No warnings just a annoying sound when the AC was on and I would lose Freon constantly and my AC would go warm. I'm asking for something to be done. Thank you.

Vehicle Information: Year / Make / Model: 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4xe Component(s) Involved: Engine / Hybrid Powertrain / Electrical System / Sudden Loss of Drive Power Current Mileage: Approximately 48,000mi Incident Summary I am filing this complaint because my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4xe has developed a dangerous new defect following an official recall service: the engine completely dies while accelerating on the highway. I took my Jeep to an authorized dealership to have the safety recall performed for the engine shutdown issue. Before this recall work was completed, I had never experienced the vehicle dying on the highway. Since the recall "fix," however, the engine has cut out completely 4 separate times while accelerating at high speeds. The most recent time happened today (August 3, 2026). Losing all pedal response and motive power in fast-moving traffic with no warning is terrifying and creates an extreme hazard for myself and everyone around me. History of Vehicle Issues & Extended Shop Time This sudden highway stalling comes on top of severe, ongoing electrical problems that have plagued this Jeep. Altogether, the vehicle has spent months sitting in the dealership shop, yet the problems remain unfixed: Post-Recall Engine Shutdowns: 4 separate complete power loss incidents while accelerating on the highway (latest occurrence: August 3, 2026). Unresolved Battery Drain: Ongoing parasitic battery drain that kills the battery, requiring multiple rounds of diagnostics without a solution. Pervasive Electrical Glitches: Frequent system glitches, including frozen touchscreens, instrument cluster reboots, random dash warning lights, and connectivity drops. Media Hub Issues: Hardware problems involving the media hub module. Requested Action The recall fix did not solve the safety hazard—it seems to have triggered a new, life-threatening stalling issue on the highway, along with the string of other issues, it's unsafe to drive.

Electrical system, forward collision avoidanceFiled Aug 1, 2026
My vehicle has multiple software and electrical issues that Jeep has been unable to diagnose or repair, and there is currently no recall addressing these problems. One of the most serious issues is that the vehicle will randomly switch the display language from English to Italian while I am driving. When this happens, the speedometer changes from miles per hour (MPH) to kilometers per hour (KPH), making it difficult to know my speed without pulling over and manually changing the language back to English. This creates an unnecessary safety concern. Additionally, the automatic door lock feature no longer functions properly. Although the dealership has repaired it in the past, the problem has returned. I also continue to receive a dashboard warning indicating that the Forward Collision Warning system is disabled, even though the feature is clearly enabled in the vehicle's settings. This inconsistency raises concerns about whether the safety system is functioning as intended. Another ongoing issue is that the vehicle randomly drains its battery. Both AutoZone and the dealership have tested the main battery and the auxiliary battery, and both have been found to be in normal working condition. Despite this, the battery drain continues to occur without explanation randomly. These recurring software and electrical problems have become unacceptable. Jeep has been unable to provide a permanent solution, and I believe the company should stand behind its product by acknowledging and resolving these issues.

The 12-volt auxiliary battery on this 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid repeatedly discharges to a completely dead state while the vehicle is parked and switched off. The vehicle has failed three times in approximately 30 days. First failure, June 26, 2026: the vehicle would not start. Numerous fault codes were stored across multiple modules, including P0562 (system voltage low). The odometer display was flashing, indicating a module had dropped off the communication bus. Second failure, July 13, 2026: less than 48 hours after returning from a road trip and parking, the same condition recurred. The vehicle required external 12-volt power to start. Third failure, July 26, 2026: a brand-new AGM battery had been installed on July 24, 2026. Within 48 hours of installation the battery measured 5.85 volts — fully discharged. An 80Ah battery discharging in 48 hours indicates a continuous parasitic draw of roughly one amp, which is 20 to 40 times the normal key-off draw for a sleeping vehicle. Owner testing has ruled out both the battery and the charging system. The DC-DC converter was measured delivering 127 amps at 13.9 volts, confirming it functions. The replacement battery accepts and holds a full charge, resting at 13.06 volts after recharge. The previous battery passed a printed conductance and load test. During each failure, the entire camera system and the ParkSense park assist system drop out simultaneously and the odometer flashes. Stored codes include U0159-00 (lost communication with parking assist control module) and B2204-00 (ECU configuration mismatch). Separately, and even when the 12-volt system is healthy, the rear backup camera intermittently fails to activate at startup and sometimes only begins working after 5 to 10 minutes of driving. Safety concerns: 1. Rear visibility. The backup camera intermittently does not display an image when the vehicle is placed in reverse. 2. Loss of motive power. 3. Stranding

I just experienced a 2nd engine stall event. I was driving thru a neighborhood at 25 mph in 5th gear, lifted off the gas pedal as I approached a 90 degree uphill turn, and in the middle of the turn (approx 20 mph) the engine stalled and I lost all propulsion. I retired from Stellantis after 16 years working as a contract transmission calibrator, so I am very familiar with what happened. When I lifted off the gas pedal the engine attempted to enter decel fuel shut off (dfso). I was watching the real time gas mileage and right before the corner I saw the mpg approaching 99 mpg (a clear indication the engine is entering fuel shut off). A second later the real time mpg started decreasing (indicating it was attempted to exit dfso) when the stall occurred. This is a MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE in need of a recall.

While parked my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK (VIN:[XXX]), BOTH the driver and front passenger Active Head Restraints (AHR) spontaneously and violently deployed forward within a couple weeks from each other. There was absolutely NO vehicle collision, crash impact, or structural trauma to trigger a safety sensor deployment. Upon physical inspection of the deployed internal mechanisms, both factory-installed units carry legacy Mopar part number 68058539AD and sequential assembly serial numbers [XXX] and [XXX]. The internal structural plastic pins pinning back the high-tension loaded safety springs degraded, fatigued, and snapped completely on their own. altering the front occupants' driving posture, obstructing clear sightlines, and rendering the whiplash dynamic safety equipment entirely non-functional. The vehicle manufacturer (Stellantis / Jeep) is actively refusing to service or replace this failed safety equipment under the known 10-year AHR component warranty extension (Mopar Warranty Bulletin #23-018-20), citing a localized family ownership transfer. Unknown On XXX, our 2022 Certified Pre-Owned Jeep Cherokee Hybrid was brought to the West Plains location for a factory safety recall or recalls and the check engine light on. During the software installation, the technician improperly executed the procedure, took the Integrated Dual Charger Module (IDCM) offline, and completely disabled the vehicle. The West Plains Repair Order explicitly states: "Caused by codes for IDCM and module offline, will not come back online, and has disabled vehicle." Because the vehicle was rendered completely undriveable, it had to be flatbed-towed 90 miles to James River Jeep in [XXX] to resolve the corrupted modules. The Ozark service department confirmed the vehicle arrived disabled due to West Plains' improper procedure and required a new battery to restore system diagnostics. The West Plains General Manager, [XXX], flatly refused to cover the resulting $1,100+ invoice for the battery ($638.71) and towing fees. Mr. [XXX] used intimidating tactics, completely dismissed our concerns, and claimed his dealership 'chooses not to work on hybrid batteries' to evade financial responsibility. This claim is demonstrably false; on October 23, 2025, this exact same location successfully accepted and completed Federal Safety Recall 73C to reprogram our vehicle's Hybrid Control Processor software. A franchise dealership cannot choose to opt out of federal recall obligations on a whim, nor should a consumer be subjected to hostile intimidation when a dealer damages their property. Due to the absolute lack of cooperation locally, the vehicle currently sits unpaid at the Ozark dealership. Formal complaints have been filed with the Missouri Attorney General's Consumer Protection Divisionand the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) using Jeep Case #XXX. This complaint involves a violation of safety recall obligations for Jeep Recall 68C (NHTSA Campaign 25V741000) concerning a high-voltage hybrid battery fire hazard. On Friday, May 29, 2026, the vehicle was brought to Carman Chrysler Jeep Dodge (New Castle, DE) for mandatory recall testing. The vehicle failed the manufacturer's diagnostic analysis due to a critical internal cell separator defect. Because of the immediate thermal and fire risk, the dealership service department immediately grounded the vehicle on-site, stating it is completely unsafe to drive or park near structures. Stellantis/FCA has failed to provide a timely remedy or replacement parts, leaving our vehicle stranded on a commercial lot. Furthermore, the manufacturer has refused to provide direct-billed alternative transportation, offering only an out-of-pocket rental reimbursement model. Because parts are delayed for several months, bankrolling thousands of dollars upfront for a rental vehicle is a massive financial burden that is completely unfeasible for our family. The dealership has also failed to provide physical or digital copies of the failed diagnostic paperwork or Repair Order. We are currently left with a grounded vehicle and no viable, safe transportation.

I am submitting this complaint regarding a serious safety-related failure involving my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. I purchased the vehicle used with approximately 15,000 miles and was informed the previous owners leased it and rarely used it. At approximately 40,000 miles, despite completing all recalls in a timely manner, the vehicle experienced the exact type of hybrid system failure a recall was intended to prevent. The issue began when the hybrid system failed and left the vehicle unsafe to operate. Upon startup, only accessory power activated and the engine would not start. A full power cycle was required before the vehicle started. Immediately afterward, warnings appeared including "Service Hybrid System," "Service Charging System," "EAB Unavailable," "Lane Keep Assist Unavailable," "Pedestrian Braking Unavailable," and "Adaptive Cruise Control Unavailable." The check engine light illuminated and all hybrid modes became unavailable. Shifting became erratic and harsh. Downshifts from 2nd to 1st felt like sudden braking and caused me to hit my head on the steering wheel. During acceleration, the transmission slipped and shifted unpredictably. Fuel economy dropped from approximately 22 MPG in E-Save mode to approximately 10 MPG at highway speeds. Diagnostic code P1E1D was retrieved and I was advised the vehicle was unsafe to drive. While driving to the dealership, the vehicle shut down twice while in motion. During both shutdowns, power steering and braking assistance were lost, posing an extreme risk to myself and others while moving the vehicle off a busy three-lane roadway. Dealership diagnostics determined one or both high-voltage battery systems failed and required replacement. Despite completed recalls, the issue still occurred. Parts were backordered over a month. I believe this failure and recall effectiveness warrant investigation due to the serious safety risks created by loss of propulsion, steering, and braking assistance while driving.

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact contact received a recall notification, NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V741000 (Electrical System). The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a service appointment. The contact was informed that the recall would be completed while the vehicle was at the dealer. The contact was informed that the software update rendered the vehicle to be undriveable. The contact stated that the dealer requested that the battery be replaced. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle was operable prior to the recall being performed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was informed that the request for the battery replacement was denied. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000.

I, [XXX] was driving home from work on Friday, May 1st on [XXX] in [XXX] during heavy traffic when my vehicle suddenly shut off while traveling approximately 65–70 mph. I initially thought I may not have been pressing the accelerator hard enough, but the vehicle would not respond at all. I then looked at the dashboard and saw a message that said “push brake to start.” At that moment I realized the vehicle had shut down completely while I was in active traffic. I had to coast across three lanes of traffic without any propulsion to reach the shoulder. During this time, I was nearly struck twice from behind because I could not maintain speed with surrounding traffic. Once I reached the shoulder, I was able to restart the vehicle. I was extremely shaken and frightened by the incident. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle again. I was very aware that I could have been seriously injured or killed, and I am thankful I was not struck. I am especially concerned about what could have happened if my grandchild had been in the vehicle with me. This incident occurred after a recall repair had already been performed in September 2025 related to powertrain/hybrid system issues. The failure appears to be the same or similar to the condition the recall was intended to correct. After restarting the vehicle, I drove cautiously to my husband’s workplace and left the vehicle parked. Since the incident, I have experienced ongoing anxiety and distress reliving what happened. This vehicle was intended to be a long-term purchase, and it is extremely concerning that it now appears unsafe to operate. This event represents a serious safety hazard. A sudden loss of propulsion at highway speeds without warning creates a high risk of crash, injury, or death. I am requesting that this issue be investigated, as the prior recall repair does not appear to have corrected the problem. I do not feel this vehicle is safe to operate. Fuel/propulsion systemFiled May 1, 2026
1st incident: I pulled out from [XXX] onto [XXX] . As I was accelerating to reach the speed limit the gas pedal became unresponsive around 30-40 mph losing all propulsion. I pushed the gas pedal to the floor and it still did not accelerate, slowing the vehicle down with highway traffic approaching from behind. After 5-10 seconds the pedal suddenly became responsive and the car began to accelerate at a bit of a slower rate than typical for the first few seconds then accelerated as it should. 2nd incident: I was turning from [XXX] , into the driveway at my place of employment. The drive way is on an incline and halfway up the incline the gas pedal again became unresponsive. Due to the incline the vehicle did not continue to coast forward and quickly lost speed at which point I hit the brakes to avoid possibly rolling back into the highway traffic. I then tried the gas pedal again and the vehicle accelerated. This could become extremely dangerous if it were to occur during merging onto a busy highway with traffic moving at high speed, as just one example. The two incidents happened about a month apart. The dealership was not able to replicate the issue as it is a very random occurrence with no warning of when it will happen. No warning lights became visible on the dash. Through a quick google search it became apparent this is a known issue, with several possible quick fixes, which I relayed to the dealership when I took the vehicle in for them to fix it. It was not replicated on their test drive and no codes were showing so I was told they couldn’t do anything unless a code would pop up or they were able to replicate the issue, which is very unlikely to happen during a quick test drive. The dealership stated it has performed all recalls to date. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

This is a major safety risk. While driving in the left lane of the highway the car abruptly turned off and gave a "Service hybrid required" type of message. My husband was almost hit by a truck. We have been trying for MONTHS to get the recall corrected, but the Worcester, MA dealership keeps telling us they don't have any loaners to give us so they can perform the recall.

Hybrid battery system, still don't have heat after 2 years of car ownership. Not to mention the hybrid battery failure rate, I've driven several times and the vehicle will just have no power. I bring it to the dealership almost monthly and they always have some excuse. The vehicle's lane assist is also a hazard. I'll just be driving down highway and it'll just jerk the wheel randomly.

EngineFiled Apr 15, 2026
I am a former Transmission Calibration Engineer at Stellantis, so I know what I'm talking about. I experienced an engine stall event while coasting down in speed. I was in town, driving about 30 mph, and coasting (0% pedal). I lightly applied the brakes and while the vehicle was still in motion (coasting) the engine stalled. The information cluster displayed a message that said "put the vehicle in park and restart the engine." I coasted around a corner, came to a stop, put the transmission in Park, and restarted the engine. No MIL or codes were set. I have a scan tool and confirmed later that no codes were set. I'm fairly certain the engine was in DFSO (decel fuel shutoff) when the issue occurred as the conditions were all correct for DFSO (engine was in normal operating temperature range, gear was 5th or 6th when coasting was initiated, and pedal was 0% for several seconds before the issue occurred). Loss of propulsion is an obvious safety concern as I lost control of the vehicle.

The right PTU has failed out of nowhere causing a very loud pop and then grinding when driven. The vehicle was inspected by the jeep dealership last week to find that that was the issue. There was no warning or symptoms prior to the problem. The safety risk is evident in that it could cause an accident, the vehicle to stop completely, not Transmitting power and or not going into park. All without warning. The replacement is very costly

I would like to file a complaint against Jeep. I drive a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE with 16,000 miles. While driving to the Store, the electronic parking brake engaged while driving. This caused braking system damage. Jeep / Manufacturer are refusing to reimburse me. The total cost was: $9,129.26. This effected the Actuators, Brake Calipers, Rear Rotors, and Brake Pads. This is not normal wear and tear, however a safety-related defect.

Exhaust small in cabin. Exhaust manifolds leaking pulling exhaust into the cabin through the climate system. When the recirculation is turned on, then the smell is not present. When the recirculation is off then the exhaust smell is strong inside the cabin. The exhaust in the cabin is causing causing respiratory problems, fatigue, eye irritation and I am concerned of passing out when driving. I frequently have to turn on the recirculation button to keep the exhaust out of the cabin but in the winter time and in high humidity situations the window fog causing an additional safety issue. I am also forced to open the windows during this time causing excessive noise and temperature control issue. I called dealer months ago and they said not covered but now I learned should have been covered but now past the 60k mile limit.

Front passenger head restraint deployed without any accident or reason. Just deployed without cause snapping a plastic bracket so it can’t be manually pushed back into place you have to purchase the entire component. The other oddity is the piece that you need to replace in question has been discontinued. Stellantis has a recall referenced as (20c) but my particular vehicle doesn’t fit in there timeline for that recall. I have a child and it is a head restraint that deployed is an airbag, which is extremely dangerous for anybody that could’ve been sitting in that spot or behind the seat. The piece itself is 700 there is no wholesale for this particular piece so you’re looking at any place that would charge you 700 and then whatever the service or labor fee is which is minimal so we’re talking at least 800 for a piece that has to be with or compatible with a certain part number which is discontinued or it will not work with the system

The electronic steering quit working at 55 mph, I was very hard to steer afterwards, there wear other indicator lights besides the steering warning light, I will add a picture of them. I did already do a report but have pictures to show the problem. I kept the core to figure out what happened, there is water in the unit control area for the motor. The issue started at the same time the water pump was leaking, and I believe that caused the water and corrosion in the electronic area. I also have another invoice for the diagnosis from the hudson dealer for about 600 dollars but mislaid it, If I need it I can get a duplicate.

The Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) systems on my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee are consistently failing to operate as intended, creating a significant safety hazard Symptoms include: System Inactivity: The FCW fails to alert or provide braking assistance during clear, high-risk frontal collision scenarios. Persistent Warning Lights: The 'FCW OFF' indicator illuminates on the instrument cluster and cannot be cleared by toggling settings in the Uconnect 5 system. Software Defaults: Following Over-the-Air (OTA) updates, the FCW and Pedestrian Emergency Braking (PEB) systems default to 'OFF' and often remain disabled despite user attempts to re-engage them. Hardware Misalignment/Blinding: Frequent 'ACC/FCW Limited Functionality' messages occur even in clear weather with clean sensors, indicating a potential calibration or module communication failure. I am referencing XXX and Manufacturer Communication XXX regarding these specific software/hardware faults. Despite these known issues, the dealership Ziegler Chrisler Doodge Jeep Ram in Schaumburg, IL has been unable to provide a permanent resolution. This failure leaves the vehicle without critical, advertised safety protections during operation

Issue 1: After several recalls - the battery issue still remains. Often not kicking in and leaving a power deficit (loss of motive power). The gap is short, but when low speed on battery and you push the accellerator to merge/turn, etc. and there is a delay - it can cause an accident. Issue 2: The investigation of alerts of pedestrians - happens intermittently. There has never been a fix. Issue 3: The tire pressure monitoring system fails to read intermittently - a warning on the dash indicates it is not working and to get it checked. Dealership has noted problem, but never fixed. Still occurs 3+ years. Issue 4: Radio/infotainment system blanks out or becomes unresponsive. When relying on this device for navigation, that becomes a problem.

Vehicle recently had recall 68c completed. Was driving in electric mode on the highway at approximately 55mph. Upon pressing accelerator further to increase speed to pass another vehicle, I lost all electric power and the vehicle lost speed down to 40mph, despite accelerator pedal being pressed to the floor. Approx 3-5 seconds later, gas engine started, revved high, vehicle lunged forward to 65mph, continued to accelerate after releasing accelerator pedal, and was able to be slowed by pressing brake. This same situation was replicated 9 hours later on the same highway. Dealer claims this is "normal operation."

I own a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee that is experiencing unintended automatic braking while driving. The crash detection/forward collision warning system shows a constant warning light on the dashboard. While driving under normal conditions with no obstacles present, the vehicle will suddenly brake on its own. This has occurred multiple times and now happens almost daily. The problem first occurred on November 26, 2024, the same day I purchased the vehicle used with approximately 34,158 miles. The issue has continued as the mileage has increased to approximately 51,500 miles. This creates a serious safety risk because the vehicle can suddenly brake in the middle of traffic without warning, which could cause another vehicle to collide with the rear of my vehicle. I am concerned about the risk of a crash or injury. The problem has been reported to the dealership multiple times since purchase. The vehicle has been in the shop for repair attempts, but the issue has not been permanently corrected. The warning light remains on and the unintended braking continues to occur during normal driving. The vehicle is currently available for inspection.
