I am writing to formally request a review of an unresolved safety recall on my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I recently received a notice regarding safety recall 89D/NHTSA 26V-562, which indicates a serious rear coil spring hazard. Currently, replacement parts are unavailable, still being developed and no remedy has been provided. Because this defect poses a severe safety concern, I cannot safely drive the vehicle. Being left without safe transportation-through no fault of my own-creates an extreme hardship. Under federal standards and manufacturer responsibility, owners should not be stranded or forced to drive unsafe vehicles waiting indefinitely for backordered parts that have been unsuccessfully developed two times already. I am requesting that Jeep corporate authorize a free loaner vehicle or full vehicle buy back at my local dealership; [XXX]. Please contact me promptly at [XXX] with a case reference number and details on how my alternate transportation will be covered. • Steering, lane departureFiled Oct 6, 2026

Here is the issue: vehicle sat all evening (an 8 hour shift) in the warehouse parking lot and it misty rained, so probably high humidity as well, the entire time. When I got in it at the end of my shift, and started it, cycling 3 times hoping the issue would clear, it had lost all electric power steering assist. The red steering wheel icon came on, lane‑keep assist disabled, traffic sensing disabled, and ACC showed ‘ACC Unavailable – Service Required.’ I limped the vehicle home - highly unsafe - to a dry somewhat environmentally controlled garage waiting for the roadside assistance tow truck to grab it next morning. When the towtruck driver arrived, he hopped in the vehicle, started it up, and it was as if nothing happened last night this dry, sunny morning. That must be a short somewhere. I spoke with Jordan at Dave Dennis CJDR in Dayton, OH, right away they said they checked it out, found old code U0131, cleared it, were not able to repeat the issue, and come get it. A few days, and much frustration later, I found this FOIA file, uploaded below, along with weblink [XXX] discussing a, quite concerning, to me, "known grounding issue" with "G908A faulty grounding." I have no indication on the below also attached invoice that that grounding issue was ever even checked, so I remain very concerned! I am filing a complaint regarding the front fascia/bumper on my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The front fascia is separating and developing a visible gap near the headlight and adjoining body panel. I contacted Jeep Customer Care and was told there was no recall for this condition and to have the vehicle inspected by a Jeep dealership. A dealer later suggested the condition could possibly be related to prior body damage or repair based on panel alignment and possible paintwork. However, I have not been provided documentation identifying a specific damaged component or establishing that prior damage caused the current separation. I subsequently learned that Stellantis issued STAR Online Case S2223000075, “Front Fascia Cover Gaps And Or Poor Fitment,” addressing front fascia fitment concerns. My vehicle is experiencing separation/gapping in this same general area. I have also personally observed and photographed several other Grand Cherokees displaying similar-looking gaps near the fascia/headlight area. I do not know their accident or repair histories and cannot state that they have the same cause. I am requesting that NHTSA review this complaint with any similar reports and determine whether the fascia attachment system, retainers, mounting tabs, clips, brackets, or related components can allow the fascia to progressively separate during normal use. I am concerned that this may extend beyond a cosmetic issue if the fascia or associated components can become loose while driving. I have photographs, dealer information, and Jeep Customer Care documentation available upon request.

      - The high-voltage (HV) battery system and related hybrid control processor (HCP) software — repeatedly, across three separate incidents (Jan 2026 coolant heater/HCP fault, June 2026 front axle disconnect fault, Sept 2026 full HV battery replacement). Also affected: front axle disconnect actuator (drivetrain). Yes, available for inspection — vehicle is at Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Clifton Park. - Recall 68C: HV battery fire risk (owners told not to charge, park away from structures). Recall 73C: possible loss of drive power while driving, increasing crash risk. Recall 20C: head restraints failing to lock, increasing injury risk in a crash. - Yes — confirmed and repair attempted by an authorized Stellantis dealer (Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Clifton Park) on three separate repair orders (RO #106187, #109788, and the current September 2026 visit), with documented diagnostic trouble codes each time (P29BB, C1463, and the current critical HV battery code). - Inspected/repaired by the authorized dealer under manufacturer recall directives (FCA/Stellantis) each time. No police or insurance involvement, since no accident occurred. - Yes — Check Engine Light (Jan 2026, code P29BB), Service 4WD light (June 2026, code C1463), and Check Engine Light again (Sept 2026, current critical HV battery code). Recall notices (68C, 73C, 20C, etc.) were also received separately as advance manufacturer warnings before some of these symptoms appeared.

CRITICAL VEHICLE SAFETY COMPLAINT - CHRONIC MULTI-SYSTEM DEFECTS The vehicle is a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe operating under severe chronic safety non-compliance. The vehicle has an active, un-remedied engine block casting sand contamination fire/loss of propulsion and crash risk (FCA 78C / NHTSA 25V-766) listing 'Parts Unavailable.' It also carries an open side-curtain airbag deployment failure recall (NHTSA 26V-328). Furthermore, the vehicle experiences intermittent climate control and HVAC failures where the heating, air conditioning, and windshield defroster loops completely disable while in motion on the highway. This directly mirrors the safety vulnerabilities detailed in federal recall 24V-111 (FCA 04B), where faulty hybrid control processor software leaves the front windshield defogger inoperable. When this occurs, the windshield instantly fogs over at high speeds, resulting in an unrecoverable, immediate loss of forward visibility. In addition, temperatures in the summer are between 100 and 120 degrees. Having no air conditioning during this time is a health and safety concern. Dealership technicians state they 'cannot replicate' the issue, forcing me to operate a vehicle that routinely violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 571.103. Operating this highly volatile hybrid asset on a regular 4.5-hour remote highway commute to act as a caregiver for an elderly parent presents a life-threatening environment. The vehicle is a severe liability threat due to active fire and crash risk, structural airbag failure, and sudden visibility blinding.

I was driving down that interstate where I felt that back end of the Jeep drop. I did not hit a bump or anything. When I got out of the vehicle I noticed a significant drop in the height of the vehicle. At first I though something happened with the shocks. My vehicle was repaired with the recall 23V413 however for some reason it didn't make 26V051 recall. I took it to the dealership and they said since it wasn't on the 26V051 recall they would not fix it. I think the repair for the 23V413 did not hold or work and this could cause significant problems. I'm not sure where the coil fell off but I think could cause significant damage or injury if it flew off and hit another vehicle or caused me to have significant steering issues on the interstate. The dealership did confirm that the rear coils did fail.

    • Electrical systemFiled Jul 24, 2026

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the instrument panel went blank. The contact became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 25V741000 (Electrical System) and 26V328000 (Air Bags). The vehicle was driven to a local dealer, who later informed the contact that the recall repair for NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V741000 (Electrical System) could not be completed due to a lack of adequate staff or equipment. The vehicle was then towed to Thomas Auto Centers (67791 Mall Rd, St Clairsville, OH 43950), who informed the contact that the recall repair would take three to four weeks to complete. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, opened a case, and followed up with the first dealer, who had the vehicle towed to the second dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 35,198.

    • Electrical system, fuel/propulsion systemFiled Jul 23, 2026

At the end of March 2026, the hybrid battery was replaced due to a recall by the dealership. After this, several software updates done, including the BCM, per technician's notes. In May 2026, my vehicle was found bricked in my driveway, unable to jump start, giving warnings regarding the dual charging system. After being towed to the dealership, they found my 12v battery was dead and stated that it needed to be replaced, which was done, with no further testing per technician's notes. Six weeks later, in July 2026, my vehicle was found bricked in my driveway again, giving the same warnings on the dashboard as it did in May. Once towed to the dealership again, with further parasitic testing, they found a "TSB about improper BCM software causing the 12v systems battery to be drained, as well as the kombi flickering which was also experienced while vehicle was in shop. TSB stated the BCM needs to be flashed." (taken from the technician's notes). As the dealership explained it to me, my vehicle failed to receive an update for the BCM, causing this glitch to drain my 12v battery. Due to my vehicle exceeding the 36,000-mile warranty, the dealership forced me to pay for the work done in both May and July, in addition to paying for a rental car while my vehicle was in the shop, even though the cause of this problem originated from the manufacturer, and was no cause of mine.

    • SuspensionFiled Jul 20, 2026

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While the contact's husband was driving approximately 72 MPH with the contact seated in the front passenger’s seat and two children in the rear seats, the occupants heard a loud bang coming from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle immediately became uncontrollable and the rear-end shifted. A trailing vehicle swerved into the median to avoid a crash. Upon pulling over to the side of the road and inspecting the vehicle, the contact's husband noticed that the rear passenger-side coil spring had detached and was ejected from the vehicle. The driver drove the leaning vehicle to the dealer via a side road; however, the vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously taken to the dealer for a recall repair under NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V051000 (Suspension), but the dealer informed the contact that the vehicle passed inspection and no repairs were needed. The contact stated that the failure occurred while on vacation, which required the contact to obtain a rental vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and denied vehicle rental assistance. The contact stated that both the dealer and the manufacturer failed to return phone calls. The failure mileage was approximately 61,600.

I had taken the Jeep in to have the rear coil fixed under the recall notice a couple of years ago. While driving out of state during the evening of XXX, the car made a large thud noise and the passenger rear side of the car dropped. We stepped out of the vehicle and the passenger rear coil spring was lying in the road. The car had not been in any accidents or had any damage. The spring simply dislodged and fell to the ground while we were driving. We had the Jeep towed to Jeff Wyler dealership in Columbus and provided them the spring that had fallen off. The dealership's number is [XXX]. We had to rent a car to return to Grand Rapids Michigan and still need to find a way to bring the Jeep home when the repaid is made. • StructureFiled Jun 18, 2026

I am requesting that NHTSA investigate a potential safety defect affecting 2022-present Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles involving failure of the front bumper retention clamps. Owners of these vehicles are reporting that the front bumper mounting clamps begin to crack, break, or fail at approximately 30,000 miles — often occurring just after the basic warranty period expires. These components appear to be inadequate for their intended purpose and are critical to maintaining proper bumper attachment. This issue is widely discussed among Jeep owners, yet the manufacturer has not issued a recall, service campaign, or permanent repair solution. Instead, owners are being forced to pay hundreds of dollars to replace or repair a failure caused by what appears to be a low-cost component that does not meet the durability requirements expected of a safety-related exterior vehicle part. A detached or partially detached front bumper creates a potential road hazard. A bumper that separates while driving could fall onto the roadway, creating a danger for other motorists and increasing the risk of additional crashes. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate: The frequency and mileage range of front bumper clamp failures on 2022-present Jeep Grand Cherokee models. Whether the bumper retention components meet durability and safety standards. Whether Jeep/Stellantis was aware of this issue and failed to provide an adequate remedy. Whether a recall or safety campaign is necessary to prevent bumpers from becoming roadway hazards. Please review this matter before additional failures result in property damage, crashes, or injuries. Thank you for your attention to this potential safety defect.

Rear right coil spring violently detached and flew across my garage. Fortunately we were not driving it on the Florida Turnpike at the time and none of my family was in the garage when it explosively ejected. We took it to the dealership, Napleton’s Jeep, on February 23, 2026 for its annual service and explicitly directed them to repair or correct any recalls. They said they could not perform the coil spring repair because “Parts Not Available” but assured us it had been inspected and was determined to not be defective or a risk. This is VERY disturbing because it could have killed us if we had been driving at the time and could have seriously injured or killed someone if it had exploded free when people were nearby (ex: in the garage, grocery store parking lot, club parking lot, etc.). There are no warning lamps to even advise that something has occurred - other than finding the enormous spring that put a giant dent in my garage door. I have multiple major work matters, an 8 figure mediation and two court hearings, which require me to drive to Fort Lauderdale this week so I had to spend $50 on an Uber to get a rental car last night and $210 on the rental car.

I am filing a formal safety complaint regarding my hybrid Jeep vehicle due to ongoing and unresolved safety issues that present a significant risk to myself and others. Since the beginning of ownership, I have experienced repeated and escalating problems with the vehicle, including: * Hybrid system malfunction warnings and persistent red wrench indicator * Aggressive and unsafe gear shifting while driving * Vehicle stalling unexpectedly * Vehicle intermittently failing to turn on or shut off properly In addition to these critical concerns, my vehicle has been under Recall 68C since October 2025. To date, there has been no available remedy provided. I have been explicitly instructed not to park the vehicle in a garage or near structures and to avoid charging the vehicle due to an increased risk of fire. This situation has created significant hardship and safety concerns. I am unable to safely use or store my vehicle as intended. I have also been informed that potential fire damage related to this issue may not be covered by homeowners insurance, further increasing the risk and liability I am being forced to assume. Despite repeated attempts to address these issues through proper channels, including dealership service visits and manufacturer communication, no resolution has been provided. This vehicle poses a clear safety hazard due to: * Risk of fire associated with the hybrid battery system * Unpredictable stalling and drivetrain behavior while in operation * Lack of manufacturer remedy for an active safety recall I am requesting immediate investigation, accountability, and corrective action to ensure the safety of consumers affected by this issue

The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and turned off in the driveway, she heard popping noises and saw smoke coming from underneath the vehicle near the rear passenger seat. The contact called the fire department, which responded and extinguished the fire. The firefighters cut the battery lines, removed the battery, and pushed the vehicle away from the contact's home. A hazmat team arrived and sprayed water on the battery for three hours. A fire department report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the manufacturer's investigation unit inspected the vehicle and determined that the failure was related to the battery. The contact was informed that the battery failure was covered under warranty, which was extended. The insurance company was notified of the failure, but informed the contact that the battery was not covered by the policy. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced a loss of drive power four to six months before the failure, which she related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V576000 (Electrical System). The manufacturer was informed of the failure, and two cases were filed. The manufacturer issued a letter instructing the dealer to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not yet repaired. I am reporting a systemic safety failure involving a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee sold as a "Certified Pre-Owned" (CPO) vehicle. Despite the mandatory 125-point CPO safety inspection, the vehicle was delivered with multiple safety-critical defects that should have prevented certification. Primary Safety Risks: Suspension/Stability: The vehicle exhibits vibration and instability at all speeds, resulting in a loss of steering stability and difficulty maintaining lane position at highway speed. Tire Integrity: The vehicle was sold with dry-rotted tires, indicating structural degradation that poses a high risk of catastrophic failure/blowout. Electrical/Powertrain: The Auto Start/Stop system is faulty. Additionally, the paddle shifters are non-functional, which interferes with manual gear selection and driver control over the powertrain. The selling dealership has refused to acknowledge these defects or bring the vehicle into compliance with manufacturer safety standards. Furthermore, Stellantis Corporate has failed to provide a safety compliance review. These mechanical and electrical defects existed at the time of sale and represent a failure of the CPO safety process.

July 31, 2024, purchased a new 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summitt (Hybrid) from local Chrysler/Dodge dealer in Las Vegas Nevada. Keeping this very high level, after the 3rd day the vehicle would not start. The dealer sent technician to our home however finally had to be towed to the dealer. The dealer inspected the vehicle on several occasions while continuing to work directly manufacture, however after weeks had been advised the parts did not fix the issue. Opened case (xxxxxxxx) with parent company of Chrysler (Stellantis). week after week customer service said they are working on the issue. Finally, at around 45 days we had to buy another vehicle based on need for transportation. Along the way we make vehicle & insurance payments every month. Additionally, we received a recall notice that the vehicle was subject to a fire. Do not park in or around buildings. At the 80-day mark we advised the dealer to get us out of this vehicle. Dealer said the vehicle is now a used car so must face deprecation plus loss of down payment. Based on no fix to original problem and risk of fire. Stellantis advised now that we do not own the Jeep, we are not eligible for any assistance or compensation for loss and thus Cased closed.

I had my child with me and was a scary moment could’ve cause a serious accident or potential death. Car was stuck in the road for over 30min before I could get it to restart and move to a safer location.
