The check engine light was on and it said to service the battery charging components. When driving in hybrid mode it doesn’t switch to use the battery. When I was trying to pull off after stopping, the jeep hesitated and would not move and then all of a sudden jerked and took off almost making me crash and people crash into me.

i PURCHASED MY 2022 JEEP RUBICON 4XE USED ON MARCH 31, 2026. IN APRIL, I HAD A RECALL NOTICE FOR RECALL 68C. I TOOK IT TO MY JEEP DEALER AND HAD THE RECALL DONE. IMMEDATELY, I NOTICED THAT MY ACCELERATION IN ELECTRIC MODE & HYBRID MODE IS DRASTICALLY REDUCED TO THE POINT OF BEING UNSAFE. ATTEMPTING TO MERGE OR PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE NO LONGER ACCELERATES LIKE IT DID BEFORE THE RECALL 68C WAS DONE. IT FELLS LIKE I AM DRIVING WIHT MY EMERGENCY BREAK ENGAGED, AS THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE NORMALLY. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT EVERYTHING IS NORMAL, HOWEVER IT IS VERY DIFFERENT. I WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IF IT HAD A HESITATION WHEN ACCELARATING. LOOKING ONLINE FOR SUGGESTIONS, I DISCOVERED THAT THOUSANDS OF JEEP WRANGLER 4XE OWNERS WHO HAD THE 68C RECALL DONE, HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE. I AM SURPRISED THAT NO ONE HAS BEEN KILLED OR SERIOSLY INJURED DUE TO THE HESITATION, CAUSED BY THE RECAL. I WOULD RATHER DEAL WITH THE POSSIBLE RISK OF FIRE THAN HESITATION CAUSED BY THE RECALL "FIX", IN THIS CASE THE CURE IS FAR WORSE AND MORE DANERIOUS THAN THE DISEASE/ISSUE JEEP WAS TRYING TO FIX WITH 68C.

I’ve had an ongoing issue with my car since earlier this year, 2026, and the code says “electric coolant heater” and i have a solid check engine light. they replaced the coolant heater a few months ago and now it’s doing the same thing again. There’s also another recall for the power steering and i’ve recently started to notice that when i start my car (which i normally will sit there for a few minutes before i drive to let everything “wake up”) there is a delay in the steering ability. my steering wheel will remain stiff unless i jerk the wheel to “wake it up” in a sense. this just started happening this week. the dealership that i got this thing at is being no help whatsoever and i’m getting tired of this!!! they don’t have a loaner car available to me so they’ve been telling me to wait to make a service appointment until they have a car available but i cannot wait on this issue any longer. matter of fact, this is absolutely ridiculous considering how much i pay for this thing every month and how lack of help the dealership has been!!!! I need a solution for this now

On October 8, 2026, at about 7:20 AM, my 2022 Jeep Wrangler (VIN [VIN]) lost gear selection while I was driving on highway 20 at highway speed. The check engine light came on, followed by a "Service Electronic Stability Control" warning, and then the transmission displayed "Shift to P then Desired Gear." Mileage was 23,816 to 23,819. This happened the day after I picked the vehicle up from a warranty repair for the same problem. It is the fifth repair attempt since I bought the vehicle on April 1, 2026: April 8 (valve body replaced), June 22 (TCM voltage codes P1DB9, P1614, U0402), August 25 (stability control warning), and October 6 (control module going offline intermittently, cause not found). The defect remains unresolved and creates a serious risk of a crash.

Our daughter (who is a student at the University of Virginia) had been having issues with her Jeep and the instrument panel. In addition to the "death rattle" which terrified her regularly when driving it on the highway, she had been complaining to us over the months preceding this accident that the car was doing odd things, the instrument panel was glitchy, would often have flashing lights and sometimes the steering wheel would feel tight or heavy. The day of the accident- she was driving to class on the UVA campus, going slowly (under 25mph) - and in the moments before the accident, while she was driving, the instrument panel started flashing lights, the fuel gage started going up and down, seeming to be having an electrical issue, so she pulled off the road going 22mph to get out of the way of pedestrians- there was actually a campus police officer directing traffic at the intersection she was going through. So, she quickly pulled off the road to a side parking area next to a campus building - and then suddenly the car accelerated rapidly at 40mph into the side of a building. The car was totaled, driver (our daughter) could have been killed as the jeep drove up a stairway and over an iron hand railing which could have impaled her - and at no point did the airbags deploy. The fact that the airbag didn't deploy during this address is crazy. Something was not right with this vehicle. We had just had it in the shop at Jeep Charlottesville where it was there for a week two weeks before this accident.

  • Power train, electrical system, fuel/propulsion systemFiled Oct 4, 2026

I own a 2022 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4xe. My vehicle underwent Recall 68C and related high-voltage battery evaluation/software work. The high-voltage battery was later replaced by Jeep under warranty. Immediately after that battery replacement, I noticed a significant change in the vehicle’s propulsion behavior that I had not experienced before. Prior to the replacement, when Electric mode was selected and sufficient battery charge was available, the vehicle normally remained on electric propulsion. Since the warranty battery replacement, the gasoline engine can engage unexpectedly even though Electric mode is selected and usable battery charge remains. I have also experienced hesitation during acceleration, including a delay or change in propulsion response before the gasoline engine engages. This has occurred repeatedly since the battery replacement and was not characteristic of the vehicle beforehand. I am concerned that the battery replacement, Recall 68C-related software, or associated battery/propulsion-control calibration may have altered the vehicle’s electric-mode operation. I consider this a safety concern because predictable acceleration is important when entering traffic, crossing intersections, making turns, or merging. Unexpected hesitation or a sudden transition from electric to gasoline propulsion can cause the vehicle to respond differently or more slowly than the driver anticipates. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether Recall 68C, subsequent high-voltage battery replacements performed under warranty, or associated software/calibration changes have introduced hesitation or unpredictable propulsion behavior in Jeep Wrangler 4xe vehicles.

  • Fuel/propulsion systemFiled Oct 2, 2026

I would like to report a safety concern with my 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe that began after Recall 68C was performed in January 2026. Prior to this recall, my Jeep did not exhibit the behavior I am now experiencing. Since the recall was completed, the vehicle has repeatedly showed unpredictable transitions between the electric motor and gasoline engine, delayed acceleration, loss of expected power, and unusually high engine RPM immediately upon the gasoline engine starting. When driving in electric mode the gasoline engine will sometimes start unexpectedly without what appears to be any normal engine warm-up period. When this happens, the Jeep does not accelerate normally. There is a noticeable lag and loss of expected acceleration. Because I am concerned about both engine damage and the safety implications of the delayed acceleration, I have essentially stopped using Electric mode. Unfortunately, I have discovered that the problem can also occur while driving in Hybrid mode. When the battery charge is below approximately 50%, the gasoline engine may start unexpectedly. When this occurs, the vehicle can repeatedly switch between gasoline and electric propulsion several times within approximately one minute. The result is a jumpy, inconsistent driving experience along with hesitation and delayed acceleration. I have experienced situations where I press the accelerator, there is a noticeable delay before the vehicle accelerates. In an emergency situation such as attempting to avoid another vehicle or accelerate out of a dangerous situation that delay could contribute to a collision. The vehicle also does not perform the way it did before Recall 68C was completed. It has less responsive power, the gasoline engine operates more frequently, and the engine can be started immediately, without warmup. This is particularly frustrating because I owned and drove this vehicle before the recall and know how the 4xe powertrain previously behaved. I attached photos in electric mode.

  • Electrical system, engine, fuel/propulsion systemFiled Sep 25, 2026

While driving my Jeep 4xe, the vehicle suddenly loses motive power without warning. The vehicle emits a chime, the "D" gear indicator flashes on the shifter and instrument cluster, the check engine light illuminates, and a message displays instructing me to shift the vehicle into Park. At that point, the vehicle will no longer accelerate, forcing me to coast and maneuver across traffic lanes to reach a safe location. This failure has occurred multiple times, including at highway speeds, creating an immediate safety hazard and increasing the risk of a crash. During several incidents, I narrowly avoided being struck by surrounding vehicles due to the sudden and unexpected loss of propulsion. The vehicle is currently at the dealership, and the dealership has confirmed the condition. A sudden loss of motive power while driving is a serious safety defect that requires immediate corrective action.

  • Electrical system, fuel/propulsion systemFiled Sep 22, 2026

2022 Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid. The hybrid high-voltage system failed the first time it was used, in April 2026 at about 35,000 miles. I had not charged or used hybrid mode before that because of the manufacturer's high-voltage battery fire-risk recall guidance (recalls 23V-787, 24V-720, 25V-741) not to charge and to park away from structures. The check engine light came on at first use and has not stayed off except when cleared by the dealer. The vehicle was taken to an authorized Jeep dealer for the same hybrid high-voltage system concern on 4/19/2026, 6/17/2026 and 7/5/2026 without a fix. On 8/4/2026 the vehicle would not start at all and had to be towed. It stayed at the dealer 29 days (8/6 to 9/4/2026). The dealer replaced the main battery and found DTC P0E15-00 (electric coolant heater performance) with the high-voltage coolant heater in a 'locked permanent' unrecoverable state, and replaced the HV heater. The three earlier visits never identified this high-voltage thermal-management failure. Safety risk: a sudden no-start / loss of propulsion, and a failed cooling component in the high-voltage system of a vehicle population already under repeated battery thermal-runaway / fire recalls, where the manufacturer has acknowledged fires in vehicles that had received earlier remedies. The failures were confirmed and documented by the dealer on repair orders. The manufacturer (Stellantis) has been notified in writing and has declined to repurchase the vehicle. Repair orders are available on request.

    Incident Aug 4, 2026

  • SteeringFiled Sep 21, 2026

The vehicle experiences a severe, violent, and sudden side-to-side shaking of the front suspension and steering wheel (commonly known as "death wobble"). This dangerous oscillation typically occurs at highway speeds (approx. 55–70 mph) immediately after the vehicle strikes a normal highway bump, expansion joint, or pothole. Note: As a 4xe plug-in hybrid model, the vehicle carries substantially more curb weight than a standard internal combustion engine Wrangler due to the heavy battery pack and electric drivetrain components. This increased mass significantly magnifies the physical forces and wear placed on the front suspension and steering linkage during impact. Despite having less than 30,000 original miles and no history of accidents, the vehicle exhibits rapid component failure. Front-end steering and suspension components—including the inner drag link and tie rod ends—were previously replaced and aligned on March 17, 2026. However, the exact same dangerous steering instability and component wear reoccurred by September 17, 2026, indicating a persistent, underlying design or durability defect that standard parts replacement fails to resolve. When this failure occurs, vehicle control is severely compromised, requiring the driver to abruptly decelerate in active traffic to regain control of the steering mechanism. This poses an extreme safety hazard to the occupant and surrounding motorists, creating a high risk of a collision or loss of vehicle control.

After recall 68C on this vehicle, my power output has noticeably altered. I did have a HV battery replaced due to failure as well. Yes, they have extended warranty for that HV battery, but also down scaled its original abilities so it is not the vehicle that we originally bought. After the 68C software recall the vehicle no longer operates the same as prior update in electric mode! While driving in electric mode and on a flat to fairly flat road and with a 50% or less battery the gas engine suddenly starts!! Revs to 3000+rpms then drops to 1500, back up to 2500, back to 1500 then shuts off! The gas engine isn't needed at that time!! When this happens it sort of confuses the drive train and may experience a loss of power. This may happen one or two more times before the battery runs out and it switches to hybrid mode. Hybrid mode works normally! This abnormality only occurs in the electric mode! This is scary when it happens and it started right after the 68C recall. I talked to the Jeep dealership service department and they checked for fault codes and there were none. I asked if they would open a STAR report and they said they did Although it's next to impossible to duplicate it for them as there's no way to tell when it will happen and it doesn't last more than a minute or two. I don't know what to do about this and neither does the service department Calling Jeep Customer Support does nothing as there is no way to talk to the technical department. I'm at a loss other than to report it here. I have heard from other 4xe owners having the exact same issues after the 68C recall. Please help.

    • Electrical system, engineFiled Sep 18, 2026

My 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe has an intermittent loss of acceleration when operating in Electric Mode. As the battery charge decreases, electric propulsion power can become significantly reduced. Pressing the accelerator sometimes produces inadequate acceleration until the gasoline engine engages. This creates a safety concern when entering traffic, crossing intersections, merging, or climbing hills because the vehicle may provide substantially less acceleration than expected. There is no warning message or warning light before or during the loss of acceleration. On a separate occasion, the vehicle displayed “Electric Mode Unavailable” with approximately 50% battery charge and switched to Hybrid Mode. Electric Mode became available again several minutes later. The vehicle has been inspected by two authorized Jeep dealers. No diagnostic codes were found, and the most recent dealer stated the vehicle was operating normally. The problem remains intermittent and has not been reproduced by the dealer. The vehicle and its components are available for inspection upon request. The vehicle previously operated normally in Electric Mode. My primary safety concern is the unpredictable loss of expected acceleration without warning, particularly when acceleration is necessary to safely enter or merge with traffic.

My 4xe has experienced several recalls since it was purchased in 2022. The most recent recall, 68C was the latest attempt to mitigate the issue of thermal runaway with the High Voltage Battery, which could ultimately lead to a fire. While 68C may have been a partial success with the latter, I believe the software update has created other issues that have introduced potentially dangerous operating scenarios and will likely lead to premature failure of the 2.0L Turbo Gas Engine. The 68C recall software was applied to my 4xe on 12/26/2025 and since that date, the vehicle noticeably performs and behaves differently from the date of purchase on 5/31/2022. When in Electric Mode, the vehicle will inconsistently hesitate and is lacking in power, especially when exiting a full stop. When applying the accelerator to gain more power, the system will override the Electric Mode and will initiate the gas engine to compensate. This instantly loads the engine up to 4k+ RPMs and causes the vehicle to unexpectedly surge forward. The engine will also override the Electric Mode while the vehicle is in motion, again instantly loading the engine and creating a surge of power and additional unexpected forward motion. In addition, I am no longer able to traverse highways without assistance of the gas engine, due to the hinderance of electrical power available. While I do realize that this is a Hybrid/Electric vehicle and has certain safeguards and protocols, this vehicle no longer performs as it was initially delivered to me. Performance aside, I believe that the 68C recall software has created a driving situation that is inconsistent, potentially dangerous, and will be placing future financial burdens on anyone who owns a 4xe.

    • Vehicle speed control, fuel/propulsion systemFiled Sep 18, 2026

Ever since the 68c recall I have had a multitude of safety related issues with my vehicle. It appears that in order to protect themselves from a known faulty hybrid battery pack Jeep has reprogramed the vehicle to reduce power. While driving in electric or hybrid mode the vehicle will suddenly lose power creating an unexpected power delivery (ie. one minute you have plenty of power to pass a slower vehicle for example then all of a sudden, you lose that power mid pass). Once power loss occurs the vehicle will start acting extremely erratic with the gas engine kicking on and off and revving high for no reason, constant gear changes etc. A substantial delay occurs between pushing the gas pedal and power delivery, dramatically increasing the vehicles response time to a necessary acceleration, etc. I have inquired to my local dealership about these issues multiple times but am always told by the service advisor that they are not aware of any problems which i know is not true as the online forums are filled with hundreds of stories of near crashes, etc and that Jeep has extended the battery warranty to "unlimited" acknowledging that there is an issue. The problem is that when these batteries fail (and mine has and has been replaced) they replace them with the same defective part.

    • Fuel/propulsion systemFiled Sep 17, 2026

2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe always had good power on electric mode as well as hybrid mode (electric/gas). There were no issues merging with traffic on highway, freeway, climbing hills, staying with the flow of traffic in electric mode. Was able to stay in Electric mode 99% of the time. When and if Jeep called for more power, engine came on smoothly with engine idling low having time to warm up and then kicking up revs to create stable propulsion. However, on 12/30/2025 Jeep Dealership performed the 68C recall with updates to the Jeep. Now the jeep has no power in electric mode and is constantly going into gas mode with an ice-cold engine revving at high revs to create propulsion. I am no longer able to safely merge with traffic on highway, freeway, climbing hills, staying with the flow of traffic in electric mode. I am concerned for my safety as well as the engine being asked to kick on in high rpm's not up to appropriate operating temperatures.

    • Fuel/propulsion systemFiled Sep 17, 2026

I believe this has to do with a Recall software update 68C that Jeep put out to resolve issues with the high voltage battery. This is a plug in hybrid Jeep Wrangler 4xe and since the software update the vehicle does not perform the way it did before and is a definite safety issue. When running in electric mode the vehicle sometimes does not respond as it should, like a hesitation, then the gas engine will suddenly start and accelerate much faster than was intended. You will be pressing on the pedal more and more then suddenly, zoom ! This is very dangerous when merging or pulling into traffic. The dealership will just tell you there are no fault codes and the vehicle is operating normally. There are no warning lamps or messages The only way to safely operate the vehicle now is gas engine mode (E-Save). There are certain conditions that bring this on but it can be random .

    • Fuel/propulsion systemFiled Sep 17, 2026

Post the 68c recall the acceleration profile of the vehicle is inconsistent and at times significantly delayed. To the point where when making left hand turns or merging into freeway traffic becomes dangerous. One specific instance while making a left I started to go but the accelerstion was extremely slow. Pressing the pedal nearly all the way down with traffic bearing down in me the enging finally kicked in at nearly full throttle. Causing a very chaotic turn. This is particularly noticeable while driving in electric mode, and usually shows up after driving for a little while. However I have had it happen very shortly after starting a drive. It does seem to be related to either battery or motor temperature, but it is very inconsistent. Typically when it does happen you try to accelerate and the normal response of acceleration doesn't occur. You keep pressing the pedal until it is nearly all the way to floor before the engine kicks in and suddenly is floored and you get more acceleration than you were trying to get. Not necessarily a safety issue, but further evidence that battery or electric power has been restricted. Since the 68c recall my fuel economy has reduced a out 8 mi/gal. I make the same road trips on a regular basis and the same trip prior to the 68c recall I got nearly 100mi more per tank of gas. It seems the battery charging and electric assist has been retarded from the original performance. Again this is more dramatic in all electric and causes precarious situations as described above. There are no warning lights or error messages, the dealer either can't reproduce the issue or calls it normal operation. I have over 90k miles on my vehicle and it is only the 10k or so since the 68c recall that I have noticed this issue. It is not performing "normally".

68C recall software update has caused some form of loss of power, doesn’t fully power off, it feels as if it is throttling the electric motor causing the engine to suddenly start and rev high (5-7k RPM) bypassing the warm up time that’s built into the software for the engine. Now on 09/14/2026 (Monday) the vehicle through a DTC code “P0BBE-00” High Voltage Battery Voltage Variation. It went into limp mode while attempting to drive up the roll back (flatbed tow truck). I am submitting this complaint regarding a critical electrical issue and potential safety hazard that occurred immediately after the 68C safety recall software update was performed. Since the 68C recall completion, my vehicle has experienced significant overnight High Voltage (HV) battery drain, losing approximately 10% of its state of charge while parked and powered off. I have returned the vehicle to the dealership three times for diagnostic testing. On the most recent visit, the dealership, working with Jeep engineers, claimed that the radio system fails to sleep, causing a continuous power draw from the battery. However, the dealership and Jeep engineer attributed this failure to a dash cam plugged into the factory 12V auxiliary power outlet (cigarette lighter socket). I believe this diagnosis is technically flawed and incorrect: The factory 12V outlet is off when the vehicle is powered down, meaning no current is drawn by the accessory once parked. The dash cam has been in continuous use since I purchased the vehicle without any issues; this battery drain issue began exclusively after the 68C software update. Blaming standard user accessories for the infotainment system's failure to enter sleep is unacceptable and ignores a likely software bug introduced by the 68C update. If the vehicle's electrical control modules fail to power down properly overnight, it poses unpredictable electrical and thermal risks. I escalated this issue to an FCA Case Manager, who upheld the engineer's assessment without addressing the underlying software defect. FCA has failed to perform due diligence in resolving this issue.

As I was driving the vehicle this afternoon my entire jeep smelled like gas. I felt like I was breathing in fresh gas coming from my ac vents. I did vent my windows as I started to get a headache & I had to go home and get my husband’s vehicle before picking up my children because I could not expose them to such toxic fumes. Even though my vin shows zero unrepaired recalls, my hybrid jeep was part of the national recall of being of a fire risk and had all kinds of service lights on. When I took it to the dealer they told me if the battery didn’t fail, the jeep was fine. They cleared the codes and replaced the heater and I am not sure how that fixes the national recall? Prior to going to the dealer, there was no fix for this recall and the notice told me not to plug it in. But now the recall is cleared? Now I have gas fumes filling my jeep and there is no leak outside the vehicle. I have a witness to that. I FaceTimed my mom when I got home and we looked under the vehicle together. At this point, it says my vehicle is not safe to drive,

I am reporting repeated premature failures of the factory charge air cooler (turbo intercooler) hoses on my 2022 Jeep Wrangler EcoDiesel (3.0L V6). Within 73,000 miles, both the primary and secondary turbo charge hoses have hardened, cracked, and failed under standard boost pressure. Safety Risk: When these turbo charge hoses split, the engine experiences an immediate and complete loss of boost pressure (limp mode / Code P0299), severely restricting acceleration and vehicle speed. This sudden, unannounced loss of engine power occurs while driving at highway speeds, creating a severe rear-end collision hazard in heavy traffic. Failure History & Repair Documentation: First Hose Failure: Replaced by an authorized Jeep dealership at under 60,000 miles (November 2025). Second Hose Failure: Replaced by an authorized Jeep dealership at 73,000 miles (August 2026). Stellantis/Jeep treats these recurring structural hose splits as non-warranty "wear and tear," forcing out-of-pocket repairs despite the severe highway safety hazard caused by sudden power loss. I am requesting NHTSA open a safety defect investigation into the material failure rate of 3.0L EcoDiesel charge air hoses.

The engine/dash wiring harness connector XY230A suffered severe thermal degradation, resulting in a melted pin and causing a complete loss of communication with the Transmission Control Module (TCM, Code U0101-00) and continuous dashboard warning lights (Service Connection Error). This vehicle has a chronic history of unresolved electrical failures, having been brought to Stellantis Puerto Rico dealerships three times for the exact same issue, most recently in June 2026. This condition is directly related to the thermal and fire hazard characteristics described under Safety Recall Campaign 26V363 (Mopar Recall 21D) for 2022 Wranglers. However, the Stellantis regional warranty manager formally denied recall and powertrain warranty coverage based on routine oil change loyalty metrics and second-owner status. The dealership forced an upfront payment of $2,311.38 under a partial diagnosis to replace the harness. The vehicle was rendered inoperable and held for 30 days and actually held in service. in addition, they don't bring loaner. The manufacturer's regional warranty manager from Stellantis initially confirmed that I would incur zero costs for this repair but later retracted the decision formally denying recall and powertrain warranty coverage due the reason mentioned above. Regional management flatly denies any relationship between this melted harness failure, the active safety recall or the vehicle's electrical repair history I formally demand a full reimbursement of all repairs and rental expenses, and that my powertrain warranty and safety recall rights be fully honored as originally promised

We had to put the e-brake up holding it in place at the dealer so it wouldn't roll. Then when attempting to shut the vehicle off it only stopped the engine from running. It stayed in ACC mode all night until the dealer could mess with it the next day. The dealer is now saying it's just a dead battery. This is unsafe and could have ended very badly just for a dead battery that showed no signs of issues before hand. Driving highway speeds and suddenly having no power steering is a safety issue as well as being unsure if airbags etc are even functioning any longer. The problem has happened multiple times. The vehicle was inspected by a Jeep dealership as well as another shop in town and the codes were reproduced. They were unable to fix the issue and despite testing a "star connector" and finding it in good condition and unable to reproduce the issues were advised to replace that part anyway and see if they could reproduce the problem again at my expense. During this time the recall for 2022 Jeep Wranglers with NHTSA campaign number 26V363 came out and i requested to wait for further repair work to be done until the recall was repaired as it also relates to the power steering. I saw a fix had been published and return to the dealership to have the recall repair performed and was told that upon further inspection of the recalled part, mine passed the test, which was apparently a wiggle the wire and inspect the harness for ware only and my vehicle is no longer listed on the recall. I feel these things may still be related and I am extremely frustrated that I have a 4 year old vehicle that I am making payments on and paying insurance on that has been parked (not in my garage as it was a fire risk in the recall) and I don't feel its safe to drive and don't feel that Jeep or the local dealership are being honorable with their product.

On 7/25/2026, the vehicle set DTC P1128 (Closed Loop Fueling Not Achieved, Bank 1) with a steady check engine light and no drivability symptoms. I cleared the code with an OBD2 scanner. My wife had driven the vehicle to a local store and back earlier with no issues. Shortly afterward, with the vehicle loaded for a trip, she applied the brakes at the end of our driveway and the vehicle did not come to a complete stop. She described the pedal response as delayed. She proceeded onto our residential street at low speed and applied the brakes again. The brakes did not function properly. The pedal traveled to the floor with minimal braking effect and the vehicle came to a rolling stop rather than a controlled stop. She pulled to the side of the street and cycled the ignition off and on. She then drove approximately 10 to 20 feet and applied the brakes again with the same result: pedal to the floor, rolling stop only. Steering effort was normal throughout. We judged the vehicle unsafe to drive and cancelled the trip. It has not been driven since. Within 10 hours of the braking failure, the vehicle experienced a complete electrical failure. The key fob would not unlock the doors and I had to use the physical key. With the brake pedal depressed and the start button pressed, the instrument cluster illuminated for less than one second and then shut off, repeating. The vehicle would not start and remains disabled. No crash, no fire, no injury. The vehicle has open safety recall 21D (NHTSA 26V-363) listed as incomplete. My vehicle was towed back to the same repair facility. On 2/6/26 they told me that my regular battery died and had to be replaced. After researching when the hybrid battery is re-coded/reprogrammed from the recall, it causes the regular battery to die due to and system overload to the regular battery. The dealer wouldn’t take responsibility or Jeep wouldn’t take responsibility. The dealer wanted to charge me $500 so I had the local Auto Zone replace the regular battery with a new battery for $238.00. I sent in a copy of the slip from the dealership to show what they had recommended and submitted a copy of the credit card receipt to Jeep and they are refusing to cover the replacement. I would not have had to replace the regular battery if the 68c recall didn’t cause my regular battery to die due to the overload. From my understanding they should have been replaced at the same time to keep this from happening. I want to be reimbursed for replacing the battery, for the cost of the tow and for the diagnostic at Thomson Motor Center.

I own a 2022 4xe, ater the 68c recall the power of the electric drive is limited. Frequent power loss occurs on highway driving during acceleration (merging onto highway or passing other cars). Despite the battery being charged up to 50% there is only 25% power available. The car is a plug in hybrid vehicle. The internal combustion engine starts in these cases with several seconds delay. During that time the vehicle does not accelerate sufficiently to safely merge onto a highway or pass other cars. The power loss happens without warning during critical drive situations like merging onto a highway or passing other cars. The driver expects a continuous level of power by the car, not a sudden power loss. This is reported by countless other drivers on all social media platforms as a consequence of the 68C recall that affects 350 000 Jeep Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe. Jeep does not respond to customer complaints or requests for clarification. My 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (VIN [XXX]) has completely lost power and shut down while being driven in moving traffic on three separate occasions, each time without warning. When it shuts down, the vehicle loses engine power and forward motion along with power-assisted braking, power-assisted steering, and hazard lights, and it has to be towed. The first failure occurred on or about XXX, at about 13,000 miles. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, and a bad battery cell and loose transmission control module terminals were addressed under warranty, but no cause for the shutdown was found. The second failure occurred on or about XXX, at about 14,608 miles. The vehicle shut down again in traffic and was towed in, leaving me stranded for over an hour. Replaced both batteries and No cause was found. The third failure occurred on or about XXX, at about 16,913 miles. The vehicle shut down a third time in traffic and was towed in. Both batteries failed testing and were replaced, and a blown 150-amp main fuse was replaced, but again no cause was identified. The vehicle still remains at the dealership and has not been diagnosed or repaired. After three repair attempts over roughly 4,000 miles, the manufacturer has not found or corrected the cause of these repeated electrical shutdowns. Losing all power in moving traffic, with no propulsion and no steering or braking assist, is an extreme safety hazard that could easily cause a crash. There has been no crash, injury, or fire so far, but the defect keeps recurring and the vehicle is still unsafe to rely on and is still at the dealer as no root cause has been found. RE: SAFETY COMPLAINT FOLLOWING RECALL 68C (NHTSA Recall Number 24V-111 / Mopar 68C) I am the owner of a 2022 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe. Prior to having safety recall 68C performed, the hybrid system functioned flawlessly. Immediately upon receiving the vehicle back from the dealership after the 68C software flash, a severe drivability and safety hazard emerged. When driving in standard Hybrid/Electric mode, the vehicle experiences a sudden loss of power, hesitation, and a physical 'bogging down' sensation. Following this lag, the vehicle violently surges into gasoline mode, causing a sudden and unpredictable acceleration lurch after the vehicle hesitates to accelerate. This behavior occurs randomly at both low neighborhood speeds and highway speeds, making it impossible to smoothly modulate throttle input. This creates an immediate safety hazard when attempting to pull out into cross-traffic, merge onto highways, or maintain a safe, predictable following distance. The vehicle hesitates when throttle is demanded, creating a risk of being rear-ended, followed by an uncommanded surge. The dealership states the vehicle is 'operating as designed' according to a regional Jeep field engineer, implying this dangerous lag-and-surge behavior was intentionally introduced into the vehicle's management software by the manufacturer to mitigate, the recall notice noted above, battery thermal risks at the expense of occupant driving safety. The manufacturer’s recall remedy has traded a fire risk for an active moving traffic hazard." Several forums and AI searches show this is a common problem the manufacturer has created to avoid a costly recall by addressing the real issue with the battery’s fire risk. Instead they have intentionally reduce the battery’s performance causing a safety issue with the vehicle’s acceleration and operation.

After the latest 68C recall fix, Jeep has adjusted the behavior of how the vehicle's electric mode operates. When the battery gets to a certain temperature when driving, the engine is supposed to turn on (to prevent the fire risk hazard). However, instead of the vehicle making the powertrain switch, the vehicle power will just stop. The pedal will go to the floor but no forward movement. It is dangerous in many driving situations, like the highway or among other vehicles when mine unexpectedly stops. Jeep has tried to fix this exact issue in 3 separate recalls, but it still occurs. They should buy back the vehicles as they seem to not be able to fix and they are not safe to drive.

I own a 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon that is included in FCA Recall 21D (NHTSA Recall 26V-363). According to FCA, high resistance electrical activity in the electric hydraulic power steering pump connection may cause overheating of combustible materials and potentially result in a vehicle fire. FCA and NHTSA have advised owners to park affected vehicles away from structures and other vehicles until a remedy is available. On or about June 2026, I contacted my local dealership, Lee Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM, 3700 Raleigh Rd Pkwy W, Wilson, NC 27896, to schedule the recall repair. I was informed that there are currently no repair parts available and no remedy available. I was further advised that there is nothing I can do to prevent the defect from occurring and that the dealership would not notify me when parts become available. The only recommendation provided was not to park near anything flammable. My Jeep is my primary means of transportation, and I rely on it daily for work and family obligations. I continue making payments and maintaining insurance on a vehicle that the manufacturer acknowledges may present a fire risk. I believe it is unreasonable and unsafe to expect consumers to continue operating these vehicles without an available remedy or meaningful assistance. I have enrolled in the Mopar notification system to be notified when repair parts become available. I request that NHTSA review FCA's handling of this recall and determine whether additional action is necessary to protect affected consumers.

    • Visibility/wiperFiled Jun 16, 2026

The windshield on my 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe appears to have optical distortion that causes significant glare and visibility problems when driving in direct sunlight. The windshield is available for inspection upon request. The problem affects my ability to clearly see the roadway, traffic, and other vehicles when sunlight hits the windshield. The distortion creates a wavy or blurry appearance that can be distracting and reduces visibility, creating a potential safety hazard while driving. The condition has been reproduced and confirmed by me on multiple occasions. The vehicle was inspected by Hendrick Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Wilmington, North Carolina, but warranty coverage was denied. The windshield has not been involved in an accident and there are no warning lights, messages, or other vehicle symptoms associated with this issue. The problem appears to be related to the windshield glass itself rather than any electronic system. The issue has been present for an extended period of ownership and is most noticeable during sunny conditions when light strikes the windshield at certain angles. I am filing this complaint because the visibility distortion creates a safety concern and I believe the windshield may have a manufacturing defect.

    • Electrical system, engine, fuel/propulsion systemFiled Jun 15, 2026

My Jeep will not operate correctly in the electric mode after a software update that was required to resolve a recall. The vehicle loses power in the electric mode and surges into the gasoline mode suddenly. This occurs after the vehicle has been driven a while and when the battery level drops below 50%. The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the instrument cluster displayed a black screen. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or a dealer. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V652000 (Electrical System); however, the VIN was not associated with the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,050.

Multiple recalls on jeep 4xe starting with the hybrid system from charging to the battery. Ultimately not fixable per Stellantis. Now electrical components in steering that present possible fire hazard at anytime. Not to mention the fact that if it can cause a fire, then the steering could fail in some unexpected way while driving, leading/contributing to an accident with serious injury or death. These combined make the car generally unreliable, potentially unsafe, and increase depreciation.
