Air bagsDo not driveFrontal, passenger side, inflator moduleJan 15, 2019, Campaign 19V018000
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2010 Dodge Ram 3500, Ram 4500/5500, 2010-2011 Dodge Dakota, 2010-2014 Dodge Challenger, 2010-2015 Dodge Challenger, Chrysler 300, and 2010-2016 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. Upon deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to explode.
Risk
In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger's frontal air bag, the inflator could explode with metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants potentially resulting in serious injury or death.
Remedy
Owners are advised not to drive their vehicle until the recall repair is complete. Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began February 4, 2019. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is V01.
Air bagsFrontal, driver clockspring/spiral cassetteMar 14, 2024, Campaign 24V196000
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) (Stellantis) is recalling certain right hand drive 2016 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. Debris contamination may cause the clockspring to fail, preventing the driver's air bag from deploying in a crash.
Risk
An air bag that does not deploy in a crash can increase the risk of injury.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the clockspring, steering wheel back cover, and steering column shrouds, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 4, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 27B.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2011-2018 Jeep Wrangler right hand drive vehicles. The driver's seat belt buckle mounting strap may fracture and separate from the seat frame.
Risk
A separated or severed seat belt buckle strap will result in an inoperable seat belt, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
Remedy
FCA US will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's seat belt buckle, free of charge. Interim notices informing owners of the safety risk were mailed November 19, 2019. Owners will received a second letter and the recall began March 26, 2020. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is VA6.
Air bagsFrontal, sensor/control module-inactiveOct 13, 2016, Campaign 16V734000
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Jeep Wrangler vehicles manufactured June 16, 2015, to August 14, 2016. In certain crash conditions, the front impact sensor wiring may be pulled until it detaches before a signal can be received by the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC).
Risk
If the ORC module does not receive a signal from the front impact sensor, both frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners will not deploy in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will reroute the front impact sensor wiring and relocate the impact sensor branch, free of charge. The recall began on November 10, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S76.
Air bagsFrontal, driver side, inflator moduleMay 11, 2016, Campaign 16V288000
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2011-2016 Right Hand Drive Jeep Wrangler vehicles manufactured February 16, 2010, to May 2, 2016. The clockspring assembly may become contaminated with dust and cause the air bag circuit to fail.
Risk
Failure of the air bag circuit may prevent the driver's frontal air bag from deploying in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the clockspring, wheel back cover, and column shroud, free of charge. The recall began on August 11, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S40.

Vehicle reflects a code of C2200. It is due to a faulty ABS module that controls the antilock brake system, traction w and cruise control. The remedy is to replace the part (part number 68259556AD). This part has been on national back order for several years now with no anticipated date of release. The manufacturer has Indicated it will not be made. This is a safety item that not only affects the performance of the vehicle but limits it resale value. Numerous vehicles from 2011-2017 models have been affected.

My 2016 Jeep Wrangler is experiencing an ongoing problem with the ABS/braking system and wheel-speed sensor. The ABS/brake warning light comes on intermittently, particularly when turning right and during hot weather. The vehicle has NOT been repaired for this problem. I am reporting it because I am concerned that there may be a defect involving the wheel-speed sensor, sensor wiring/connection, wheel hub, or ABS system. Because these components are connected to the vehicle’s anti-lock braking and stability/traction-control systems, I am concerned about the safety of continuing to drive the vehicle. I would like this problem investigated as a potential safety defect. I am also requesting that NHTSA review whether other 2016 Jeep Wrangler owners have reported similar ABS, brake warning light, or wheel-speed sensor failures and determine whether a safety recall is warranted. There was no accident it just started happening on its own.

The ABS control module has internal problem which shuts down the module. Results of the module shut down includes: -The stability and traction systems are offline. -A failure in the ABS module or hydraulic unit. -Cruise Control inoperable. -The module no longer modulates brake pressure, which can result in brakes locking. Currently, Mopar has stopped production of this item, so there is no method to replace a failed or non-working module with an original part.

I was driving down the road in a snow storm when all of a sudden the vehicle started swirling all over the road. I pulled over and looked underneath and something was hanging down. I had no choice but to drive it slow less than 10mph to make it home as it was also making a hard jumping. Once there I had my mechanic come look at it and the drive shaft was busted. I am extremely luck that this happened during a snow storm because if not I may have rolled the vehicle as the steering was greatly affected.

My 2016 Jeep Wrangler will buck and jerk when on the highway. I’ll be going a steady speed, not changing speed. I feel the car slow down and stomp on the gas but it goes all the way to the floor and nothing happens. When I try to go into the break down lane, the steering wheel locks up and won’t turn. Usually I take the key out then put it back in the ignition and it starts no problem. Recently, the engine has been stalling when I put the key back in the ignition. I usually have to take the key out and sit on the side of the highway for 5 minutes before starting it up with no problem. This has happened too many times than I’d like to admit. Take it to the shop, no codes come up. Sometimes the engine light will turn on when this happens, other times it doesn’t.

I have a 2016 jeep wrangler and I was trying to get it fixed but the dealership said it was the abs module and that they could not get one in because they are on back order because they warehouse that provides the chips for them burned down. I was then told that it is not promised to when they will be available and then they tried to turn around and ask me did I want to trade it in. So now I am stuck still paying for the jeep and I can not drive it because of the abs module. I understand life happens but the manufacture should have called a recall or something because people are not going to be able to drive their vehicles but still have to pay for them and I am sure no one wants to start over on a new vehicle when they have paid so much on their current one.

The modules have been on back order for years and there’s no sign of getting a fix. The vehicle is unsafe to drive but we are left with no choice but to continue to drive it. Why hasn’t anything been done to kick them in gear and get replacement parts made?

I own a 2016 Jeep Wrangler with a malfunctioning Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). The ABS is not functioning, creating a serious safety risk, particularly during emergency braking and adverse road conditions. The vehicle has been under an active repair order with Town & Country Jeep Chrysler Dodge Ram since October, but the required part remains on indefinite backorder with no estimated time of arrival. I have escalated this issue to Stellantis Customer Care and have ongoing email correspondence documenting the delay and lack of resolution. Despite these efforts, the vehicle remains unrepaired, forcing me to either drive with a known safety defect or go without transportation. This situation represents a failure to repair a critical safety system within a reasonable timeframe. I am submitting this complaint due to the ongoing safety risk and lack of timely resolution.

JEEP CANNOT GET A PART FOR THIS VEHICLE AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO GET ONE. NEEDS AN ABS MODULE AS ONE OF THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CIRCUITS IS NOT COMMUNICATING. I HAVE REACHED OUT TO MULTIPLE MODULE REBUILDERS AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO GET PARTS FOR THIS MODULE ANYMORE. THIS IS A WELL-KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE WRANGLERS AND JEEP IS NOT WILLING TO RELEASE A RECALL TO MAKE IT RIGHT. DUE TO PARTS SHORTAGE, THE MODULES ARE GOING ONLINE FOR 1500-2000, WHICH FOR A MAJOR SAFETY COMPONENT CAN BE A LARGE ISSUE. WE HAVE SINCE PARKED THE VEHICLE FOR THE PAST 3 MONTHS WHILE I ATTEMPT TO LOCATE A REASONABLY PRICED MODULE OR FIND SOMEBODY THAT HAS THE CHIPS/CAPACITORS TO REBUILD IT. Pulled into parking space. Applied brakes and came to a complete stop. Could hear engine revving up.. Thought ok, that gas pedal seem to be pressed. Look at my foot wasn’t pressing the pedal. Looked at floor mats. It was laying flat on floor, not manipulating the pedal. I thought what’s happening? And lifted foot off brake ever so slightly and car jumped 6 inch high curb and hit the building.. Pretty hard. Caused structural damage to the wall. I went to the hospital, driven by husband. Swelling of my right leg on the shin. Released and told to stay off leg for few days, no fractures. After doing research, It seems other jeep riders have had this experience. I have no idea how fast the jeep was going.

Anti-Lock Brake System stopped working rendering the car inoperable. The first incident: about 5 years ago the ABS engaged the brakes while driving almost causing a collision. This incident occurred in Guaynabo, PR. After this incident the ABS Module stopped working but the car was still operable. A week ago the PCM lost communication with the ABS module bringing the car into "limp mode" (stuck in 3rd gear until y did not longer engaged the transmission. Also the speedometer stopped working.) This happened while driving on a Sunday on busy road. This has been a common issue with Jeep Wranglers made from 2012 to 2018. The company at this moment is not producing replacement parts (ABS Modules) for these vehicles leaving owners without any way to fix or use their cars. ABS Module DTC's: -C2200 -U0100 -U0141 -U0126 -U0002 While scanning the module comes and goes offline.

While driving my vehicle on Monday, February 16, 2026 I heard a loud pop come from the front of the vehicle. Right after that smoke began to come through the hood vents. I stopped the vehicle to inspect and at that point the engine compartment was burning heavily. I could barely get out of the vehicle and away before the whole front end of the vehicle was engulfed with fire and heavy black smoke. It looked as if the fire started somewhere on the righthand side of the engine compartment because the right front tire was the first to blow out in the fire. The vehicle is with the insurance company to inspect, but it was in perfect running condition, all maintenance performed. There were no dash warning lights that came on, no odd sounds heard and the vehicle ran until I stopped and shut it office. There has to be something that was wrong with the manufacturing of this specific engine to make a loud pop and burn as hot as it did. I wanted to report this before the vehicle is sent away to be demolished due to it being a complete loss.

Unsafe Vehicle, Unresolved Mechanical Failures – Serious Safety Concern On [XXX], I purchased a Jeep (VIN: [XXX] ) from Whipple Auto Sales. Since the purchase, the vehicle has experienced repeated mechanical failures that have created serious safety concerns. Approximately two weeks after purchase, the dealership replaced a fuel injector due to performance issues. About one month later, the vehicle began showing sensor codes and experienced sudden power loss while driving. On [XXX] the vehicle completely shut off while I was traveling on the highway, placing my safety at significant risk. The dealership initially stated that the key required reprogramming. However, after keeping the vehicle for approximately one month, they were still unable to repair the issue. The dealership later claimed the problem was related to the powertrain. Without resolving the issue or providing proper notice, they returned the vehicle to my residence in worse condition than when it was left with them. At this time, the vehicle is unsafe and unreliable, and I cannot confidently operate it. This situation demonstrates a lack of proper repair, accountability, and resolution. I am extremely concerned about the safety and reliability of this vehicle and the dealership’s handling of this matter. I am seeking a proper resolution to this issue. While depressing the brake pedal, the wheels locked up, and the vehicle failed to come to a gradual stop. The ABS control module displayed DTC: C2200 (Internal ABS Module Failure). The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who confirmed the fault code. The vehicle was not repaired because the Part Number 68259556AD was on back order. Vehicle speed control, service brakesFiled Dec 5, 2025
The ABS Module (Part 68259556AD) on my 2016 Jeep Wrangler began failing about two years ago. When the ABS warning light turns on, both the ABS and traction-control systems stop functioning, creating a serious safety hazard: greatly increased stopping distance, reduced steering control under braking, and higher risk of loss of control on wet or slippery roads. The warnings, once intermittent, are now continuously illuminated, meaning the vehicle has no working ABS or traction control at any time. Performance Jeep of Somerville (Somerville, NJ) inspected the vehicle around September 2023 and confirmed the ABS module had failed. They also confirmed the replacement part was unavailable, with no estimate from Jeep on when it would be supplied, and suggested a possible upcoming national recall—none has been issued. The ABS module has now been on national backorder for roughly two years. Jeep’s parts division states the part is still “supported” but on “heavy backorder.” Jeep/Stellantis corporate opened a case, promised to “fast track” it, and later reported supplier “tooling/manufacturing” issues, offering no timeline for availability despite repeated follow-ups. Please note that Performance Jeep has informed me that they have several aging orders in for the ABS Module (Part 68259556AD) that they're unable to fulfill, so it would appear that on a national basis, there must be many Jeep owners such as myself who are experiencing this problem with no remedy in sight. Because the part cannot be obtained, the vehicle cannot be safely driven or repaired. This is a safety-critical defect with long-term parts unavailability. I am requesting NHTSA review and intervention, as the manufacturer has been unable to supply a federally required safety component, leaving the vehicle in an unsafe condition with no remedy.
