POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LCC (Land Rover) is recalling certain model year 2015 Discovery Sport manufactured September 17, 2014 through November 3, 2014 and 2014-2015 Range Rover Evoque vehicles manufactured July 15, 2013 through July 1, 2015. In the affected vehicles the transmission sensor clusters may have insufficient crimps in the transmission wire harness, and as a result, the transmission may unexpectedly shift to neutral.

SUSPENSION:REAR

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain model year 2014 Range Rover Evoque vehicles manufactured November 27, 2013 and December 4, 2013. The bolts connecting the right hand rear suspension link arm may have been damaged during vehicle production.

LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES

The contact owns a 2014 Land Rover Range Rover. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and making a turn, the front driver's side door unexpectedly opened due to a latch failure. The contact stated that he drilled some holes and installed wires to keep the front driver's side door securely closed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 147,260.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

The failed component is the fuel tank cover that is rusted through. This poses a risk of fuel tank puncture because of the rough terrain I travel for work. This rust has been confirmed by the servicing agent. No warning lights appeared to indicate problem.

SUSPENSION

We first received notice of the recall on December 18, 2024. The front right suspension knuckle joint was making a clicking noise for several weeks and has now cracked and detached the suspension arm on the front right wheel. Thus making my car completely unsafe to drive. The manufacturer gave me an unclear answers for an extended period of time. They have now confirmed that the part is on back order and unavailable to order and they don’t know when it will be available to order. At this point, I don’t feel safe driving my car. I need the manufacturer, Land Rover, to either buy back my vehicle or to give me a rental or loaner car for the foreseeable future, until they are able to repair my car or replace my car altogether. I live in Woodland Hills, CA and there are two dealerships in close proximity which are available to provide a solution for me. I am a mother and I have three small children. This is our family’s primary car for daily transportation for my children to and from school and all activities. It is imperative that this is addressed immediately.

The contact owns a 2014 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque. The contact stated while driving at approximately 45 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle accelerated rapidly and was shifting rapidly. Additionally, the contact stated that the turbo charger was engaging independently, and the check engine warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the active suspension and shock absorbers were not responding when the contact drove over dips in the road or while turning left or right. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated for the suspension. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the turbo charger and the suspension needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

STEERING

The contact owns a 2014 Land Rover Range Rover. The contact stated that while the vehicle was at the dealer for inspection, the contact was informed that the front suspension knuckles were fractured. The contact was advised not to drive the vehicle because of the failure. In addition, the contact was informed that the parts were not available to repair the vehicle. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V840000 (Steering); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. ENGINE

The contact owns a 2014 Land Rover Range Rover. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact stated several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle lost motive power. The contact attempted to start the vehicle; however, the vehicle failed to start. The contact stated that the failure had occurred while the contact was driving on a major highway. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 165,000.

STEERING

The contact owns a 2014 Land Rover Range Rover. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V840000 (Steering); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and making right turns, the vehicle shook abnormally, and the front driver's side tire rubbed against the fender. The dealer was made aware of the failure but confirmed that parts were not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. SUSPENSION,WHEELS

Front wheel knuckle failure. I received an email last year on a recall for specific VINs for this failure and my VIN does not apply within the specific years of 2014-2016. I have a 2014 L405 Land Rover and am very concerned of this failure. I would like this complaint filed and Land Rover to replace these knuckles before someone dies or is seriously injured.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE

Land Rover has been made aware through several complaints that there is a widespread issue with their vehicles that requires recall. Thousands of customers have reported issues in their vehicles with cylinder 4 cracked pistons resulting in engine failure. Land Rover refuses to address the issue in their vehicles causing this malfunction and costly vehicle repair. Land Rover needs to issue a recall to address and rectify this issue in their vehicles as this issue results in the vehicle losing speed and coming to a complete halt with no warning from the vehicle. The vehicle does not display any warnings even if dangerously low on oil - no warning sign will display. This could result in death of multiple people and cause crashes. It is highly dangerous and needs to be addressed by Land Rover with urgency.
