AIR BAGS:SENSOR:OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Nissan Maxima, 2013-2016 Nissan Altima, NV200, LEAF, Sentra, and Pathfinder, 2014-2016 Nissan NV200 Taxi, Infiniti QX60, QX60 Hybrid, and Q50 Hybrid, 2014-2017 Nissan Rogue and Infiniti Q50, 2015-2016 Nissan Murano, Murano Hybrid, and Chevrolet City Express, 2014-2015 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid, and 2013 Infiniti JX35 vehicles. In these vehicles, the front seat passenger Occupant Classification System (OCS) may incorrectly classify an adult passenger as a child or classify the seat as empty despite it being occupied. As a result, the passenger frontal air bag may be turned off and not deploy in the event of a crash.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP:CONTROL/DRIVE MODULE

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2013-2021 NV200 Van, 2014-2017, 2019 NV200 Taxi, and 2015-2018 Chevrolet City Express vehicles. The Fuel Tank Temperature (FTT) sensor harness may have been incorrectly routed, damaging wires and causing a short circuit in the fuel pump fuse.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

I am filing a formal safety complaint regarding a severe electrical failure and fire hazard inside the fuel tank of my 2015 Nissan NV200, directly related to Safety Recall PMA56 (NHTSA 25V676000). The dealership performed the recall service but refused to replace the fuel pump module, claiming no diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) were present. Experiencing ongoing symptoms, I purchased an OEM replacement fuel pump and extracted the original module myself. Upon disassembly, I discovered: 1. Severe Electrical Arcing/Thermal Damage: The fuel level sender ceramic card, contacts, and internal harness connectors were completely charred, carbonized, and melted due to an active short circuit/extreme thermal event inside the module. 2. Debris Contamination: The internal short circuit melted the module's plastic housing, dropping burnt debris directly into the reservoir and clogging the fuel strainer. Running an active short circuit with exposed arcing contacts inside a volatile environment saturated with fuel vapors creates an imminent risk of tank explosion or vehicle fire. The dealership's protocol of only inspecting external wires or relying on DTCs is inadequate. I urge the NHTSA to audit Nissan's remedy procedures for Campaign 25V676000, as the current inspection protocol fails to detect severe internal module destruction

VISIBILITY

The contact owns a 2015 Nissan NV200. The contact stated that the climate control mode failed to defrost the windows. Approximately 3 years after the first failure, the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer at the first failure, and it was determined that the heater box had failed. The heater box and climate control bracket were replaced. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer for a second diagnostic test or repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000.

POWER TRAIN

The vehicle safety switch is bad and Nissan dealers will not sell the part unless you buy the entire transmission. I bought this transmission in Nov 2020 from Nissan Dealer and the part is malfunction allowing it to start in all gears. The warranty on the transmission is 12,000 miles or 12 months. At this point, I am forced to drive this vehicle which can make it hazardous. Nissan is insistent that will not sell the part unless I buy a whole new transmission. How can that be?

STEERING

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 NISSAN NV. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WESTON NISSAN LOCATED AT 3650 WESTON RD, DAVIE, FL 33331 WHO PERFORMED AN ALIGNMENT BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE TIRES WERE ALSO REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE AND NO SERVICE WAS PERFORMED. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.

2015 NISSAN NV200 SV 78,000 MILES. DRIVER HAD MOVED VEHICLE INTO GARAGE, PARKED VEHICLE WITH A SLIGHT ANGLE TO THE STEERING. DRIVER COULD NOT REMEMBER IF VEHICLE WAS RUNNING OR KEY IN IGNITION IN 'ON' POSITION. WEATHER STRIPPING ON DRIVER'S DOOR WAS LOOSE AND PREVENTING DOOR FROM LATCHING CORRECTLY SO THAT MORE FORCE THAN USUAL WAS REQUIRED TO CLOSE AND LATCH DOOR. DOOR WAS CLOSED WITH VIGOR AND THIS CAUSED AIRBAG TO DEPLOY. COMMERCIAL VEHICLE WITH COMPONENTS INSTALLED THAT COULD FREEZE. NISSAN WAS NOT INTERESTED IN INSPECTING THE VEHICLE WITHIN A TIMELY MANNER SO VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BODY SHOP FOR INSPECTION BY INDEPENDENT 3RD PARTY AND GET REPAIRS DONE. MY AIR CONDITIONING BROKE FOR THE 3RD TIME.I BELIEVE ALL A/C UNITS SHOULD BE REPLACED WITH A DYSON FLOOR BLADELESS FAN STYLE A/C AND HEATING UNIT WITH SURGE PROTECTOR WIRE TO FUSE BUS.THIS DYSON BLADELESS COOLING AND HEATING FAN WILL INCREASE FUEL ECONOMY,REDUCE COSTLY REPAIRS,LONGER ENGINE AND BATTERY LIFE

SERVICE BRAKES

THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE BRAKES HAVE MALFUNCTIONED BUT THIS TIME WE WERE ABLE TO GET DASHCAM FOOTAGE. BRAKE PEDAL MAINTAINED PRESSURE LIKE NORMAL BUT DID NOT SLOW THE VEHICLE AT FIRST. IT FELT LIKE BRAKING ON ICE. PUMPING BRAKES EVENTUALLY BROUGHT THE BRAKES BACK ONLINE. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED, WE NEARLY HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF US BECAUSE WE HAD TO BRAKE QUICKLY (ORIGINAL COMPLAINT STATED PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR -- I THINK THIS WAS IN ERROR DUE TO EXCITEMENT OF THE MOMENT). THIS BRAKE MALFUNCTION HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE PAST 2 MONTHS. DEALER CAN'T DUPLICATE AND SO FAR NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS SAYS THEIR PROCESS DOESN'T ALLOW THEM TO DO ANYTHING UNLESS THE DEALERSHIP CAN DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. SERVICE BRAKES

WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC ON A DRY, STRAIGHT ROAD AT ABOUT 35MPH, TRAFFIC STARTED TO SLOW FOR A RED LIGHT. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WITH NO RESISTANCE AND HAD NO EFFECT ON VEHICLE SPEED. FRANTICALLY PUMPING THE BRAKE PEDAL GRADUALLY INCREASED BRAKE PEDAL RESISTANCE. AFTER GAINING BRAKE PEDAL RESISTANCE, THE VEHICLE CAME TO A SCREECHING HALT, ACTIVATING ABS AND NARROWLY AVERTING AN ACCIDENT. THIS HAS ONLY OCCURRED ONCE, ON 19 DEC 2018 AND, TO DATE, HAS NOT REOCCURRED. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM AND SENT US AWAY WITH "NO PROBLEM FOUND AT THIS TIME". ANECDOTALLY, THE DEALERSHIP DID MENTION ANOTHER FAMILY THAT REPORTED THE SAME PROBLEM AND THEY DECLARED IT A FLUKE BECAUSE IT HAS NOT REOCCURRED. THE PROBLEM HERE IS THAT IF IT DOES REOCCUR, IT'S QUITE POSSIBLE NEITHER MYSELF NOR MY FAMILY WILL BE AROUND TO REPORT IT. CONTINUING TO DRIVE WITH A STRATEGY OF HOPE THAT THIS DOES NOT REOCCUR SEEMS A POOR STRATEGY CONSIDERING THE RISK TO MY FAMILY AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD. AT LEAST THIS IS A DOCUMENTED DATA POINT IF ANYONE ELSE HAS EXPERIENCED THIS.

REAR A/C HAS ZERO FLOW THEREFORE THE BACK GETS EXCEPTIONALLY HOT...THIS IS THE SECOND TIME WE HAD THIS ISSUE. LAST YEAR NISSAN CHANGED COMPONENTS AND TOLD US THE ISSUE HAD BEEN RESOLVED. NOW ITS HAS HAPPENED AGAIN. LOTS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ONLINE.
