VISIBILITY
The rear tailgate window shattered while parked in the driveway. It occurred overnight and was discovered first thing in the morning. Glass fragments were propelled several feet away from the vehicle. Our 2020 Rogue spent five years parked in the exact place without any windows shattering. Our new 2026.5 Rogue had only spent 3 months parked there when the window shattered. We brought it to the dealer who said there was no warranty on broken windows so we had it repaired on our own and our insurance covered the replacement.

SERVICE BRAKES
Three days before the accident, I experienced an unusual issue with the vehicle. When I pressed the brake pedal to start the vehicle, I heard an unusual sound that I had not normally heard when starting the car. It was heard from the outside of my car and as well as I felt it on brakes as I pressed it. My neighbor was present and advised me to turn the vehicle off and restart it. After I turned the vehicle off and restarted it, the sound was no longer present. Three days later, while driving the vehicle, I attempted to apply the brakes to slow/stop, but the vehicle did not respond as expected. I pressed the brake pedal in an attempt to stop the vehicle but was unable to stop, resulting in a collision. Because of the unusual sound that occurred while pressing the brake pedal three days earlier and the subsequent loss of braking ability during the accident, I am concerned that there may have been a malfunction involving the vehicle's braking system or a related component. The accident was reported to law enforcement, and the vehicle sustained significant damage. My insurance company subsequently determined that the vehicle was a total loss. I am submitting this complaint so that the incident and the earlier warning sign can be documented and reviewed by NHTSA as a potential vehicle safety issue.
ENGINE
Loss of acceleration uphill and when trying to turn onto a street. My 2026 Nissan Rogue went in on May 15, 2026. It had water valve replaced, problem not resolved. They then replaced turbo, problem not resolved. Replaced Catalytic converter because it was clogged from coolant honeycombing. Problem resolved. Out of the shop, July 13, 2026 ( In the shop over 2 months). Back in the shop on July 23, 2026, hard knock on the motor and check engine light came on. Nissan shop determined motor needs replacement. Picked up vehicle on 8/14/26. Loss of acceleration again, dropped off on Sept 2nd and was informed my catalytic converter needs to be replaced again. Still in the shop as of 9/7/26
UNKNOWN OR OTHER
I am reporting a serious safety incident involving the powered rear liftgate of my 2026 Nissan Rogue Platinum. On Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at approximately 9 AM, I was helping my daughter unload her cosmetology case at the Sherman Oaks Galleria. The rear liftgate was open. We were both standing behind the vehicle, facing away from it toward her cosmetology case (which had become unlatched so we were fixing it). No one pressed a button on the liftgate, the key fob, or inside the vehicle to initiate closure. Neither of us intentionally activated the hands-free liftgate sensor. The liftgate began closing and struck the back of my head. It did not reverse upon contacting me and continued pushing downward. My daughter intervened to raise the liftgate by hitting the button. (Audio of incident is preserved on dash cam) An ER visit revealed healed injury with occipital hematoma. I experienced a concussion and neck injury from the lift gate. Followed up with neurology - I was Dx with post concussion syndrome and post concussive headaches. And whiplash. I continue to have headaches, light sensitivity, brain fog and very bad neck pain. Please investigate this. *written with help of chat bc my head hurts and I’m foggy. But my daughter and I both read over this report and it’s correct.
STRUCTURE
The short inserts in the front grille of my 2026 Nissan Rogue SV have noticeable free movement at their attachment points. All short inserts can move forward/backward, laterally, and angularly. The longer grille inserts do not exhibit the same condition. I reported this condition to authorized Nissan dealers because of concern about the long-term integrity and retention of these components when subjected to aerodynamic loads and high-frequency vibration during normal vehicle operation. The condition was reproduced and documented by authorized Nissan dealers. At Nissan's direction, a dealer recorded the movement and submitted it for warranty review. Nissan subsequently authorized replacement of the complete front grille under the new-vehicle warranty. The grille was replaced, but the replacement immediately exhibited essentially the same movement. I continued reporting the condition to Nissan Consumer Affairs. Nissan later arranged an evaluation involving regional/technical personnel and subsequently informed me that the movement was a “characteristic of the vehicle” and that no further corrective action would be taken. I have personally inspected other comparable 2026 Nissan Rogue vehicles and found that some do not exhibit this movement in the short grille inserts. Nissan has not provided an engineering specification, tolerance, or measurement establishing acceptable movement. My safety concern is the long-term integrity and retention of the short inserts and their attachment points under repeated aerodynamic loading and high-frequency vibration. No insert has detached, and I am not asserting that detachment will occur. I am requesting that NHTSA evaluate this condition, including the movement and retention of the short grille inserts, and physically inspect my vehicle or a comparable vehicle if appropriate. My vehicle is available for inspection, and I have documentation and videos showing the condition before and after replacement.

1. On XXX (clear ), while parking a Hertz rental Nissan Rogue at a hotel parking lot in [XXX], the vehicle suddenly and violently accelerated forward without warning. Brake pedal application was ineffective. The vehicle jumped a stone barrier and sustained damage. I was terrified and sustained minor injuries. 2. This vehicle is equipped with the KR15DDT engine, which is the subject of NHTSA recall 26V081/26V080 for electronic throttle body gear fracture. The reported failure mode—low‑speed unintended acceleration and loss of braking—matches my experience exactly. The primary suspected failure is the electronic throttle body (ETC) and/or engine control system, as the engine produced uncontrolled power despite my foot on the brake. The braking system also failed to respond. 3. Although this vehicle's VIN is not currently listed under an open recall, known serious safety defects within the same engine family cannot be ruled out. Prior to renting this vehicle to us Hertz did not provide any evidence that they performed (PDI) or any other safety checks to ensure the vehicle was free from hazardous conditions. They also never informed us of any potential risks associated with this engine. I have repeatedly requested damage reports and itemized repair bills from Hertz, but they have consistently refused to provide any such documentation. Requests : 1. Include this vehicle in the ongoing defect investigation of KR15DDT engines to prevent further safety risks to drivers and the public. 2. Subpoena Hertz’s complete maintenance and service records for this vehicle to determine whether it was properly repaired and compliant with safety standards before being rented out. 3. Obtain the official damage assessment and repair documentation to establish the true cause of this incident—a routine parking maneuver that unexpectedly turned into a dangerous crash. We don't want anyone else to encounter similar safety incidents. Please contact me via email. Tks INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
POWER TRAIN,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
1 Unknown. I suspect a malfunction involving the electronic gear-selection/shift-control system or transmission control system. I personally placed the vehicle in Park while the engine was running. After I exited the vehicle and was away from it, the vehicle moved on its own. When I returned after hearing the impact, the gear selector was no longer in Park and was in another position. The vehicle and relevant electronic systems are available for inspection. 2 The vehicle was parked on a steep hill. I had personally placed the vehicle in Park and exited it with my daughter. While I was inside my home, the vehicle moved without my knowledge or intentional input and struck my garage. The vehicle was running and was my spouse was still in the car when the movement occurred. The unexpected movement created a risk of the vehicle striking a person, entering a roadway, or causing a more serious crash or injury. 3 No. The incident has not yet been independently reproduced or confirmed. The vehicle needs to be inspected to determine why it moved after I placed it in Park. 4 No not yet 5 No known warning lamps, messages, or symptoms occurred before the incident. The vehicle appeared to be operating normally. I had no warning that it would leave Park or move
