EngineFiled Oct 8, 2026
Vehicle will randomly die (engine completely shuts off) while in operation. The engine shuts off completely, putting the driver and those around them in extreme danger. The vehicle has to be put in park (on the highway) and restarted. There is a class action lawsuit because it is happening to so many people including us and Ram refused to accept responsibility. We have had our truck in the dealership a total of 5 times for the same problem and they have either told us the problem can not be replicated and they can’t do anything or they have fixed random parts but the issue is still occurring. There have been several incidents where a collision could have killed someone. It is not a question of if, it’s a question of when an accident will occur because of this.

On 10/4/26 my 2025 Ram 1500 with less than 15k miles experienced a major electrical/electronic failure. Multiple systems malfunctioned simultaneously while driving at freeway speeds, the vehicle decelerated rapidly, and then it would not shut off. Diagnostic codes included P0335, P0336, P034B, U0901, and U0422, including faults involving communication between vehicle and control models. This is the second significant electrical incident. Previously, electronic components activated abnormally while the vehicle was parking, including lights/wipers, and the battery became discharged even though the battery tested good. This failure left the vehicle completely immobilized approximately 60 miles from home. This malfunction had the potential to cause a collision at highway speeds, and risked the my life and the life of others on the road that day. I am deeply concerned this represents an electrical, software, wiring, or combination of those issues rather than an isolated battery incident.

Case ref via phone call [XXX] 2 separate issues with the truck- automatic window controls and the braking system. I have all the repair records from the dealership and can provide them or any further information that may be needed. Automatic window control- When using, the window would start to raise and then fall back down before raising all the way up. This was an ongoing issue with the passenger window and was in the shop 5 times for repairs. On the last repair the driver window was also having the same issue. Milage at 1st repair visit 5,449. Repair dates: -September 19-22, 2025 -November 13-14, 2025 -February 6-9, 2026 -March 6-27, 2026 -June 1-5, 2026 for both windows Braking system- While driving, the parking brake will engage and turn the ignition off. The truck will then have to be restarted to continue driving. This has occurred while parking, backing up, at stop lights, and while pulling out onto the street. This is a major safety concern as it is going to cause an accident if it is not fixed. At this time the truck is in for 3rd time for this without a diagnosis. Milage at 1st repair visit 10,560. Repair dates: -August 14-18, 2026 -August 25-Sept 1, 2026 -September 8-current The dealership we work with is Larry H Miller Dodge Ram. I have documentation of everything they attempted during our repair visits. We are the original owners of this truck. September 14 ~10AM I was starting from a stop light wen the truck suddenly started surging and the tach showed over 4K RPM, all Gage lights were erratic, it would not accelerate, i lost power steering, and pulled the truck over and did a hard reboot (restart). While that recharged the system I had just exited a treacherous 8 mile very narrow stretch of road between Brookings and Grants Pass Oregon, that has very sharp and blind turns frequented by logging and delivery semi trucks traveling at 30-65 mile per hour depending on the section. If this had happened an hour earlier I'd be dead because there is NO WHERE to pull off. This truck now scares the life (literally) out of me. Took it to get recalls done 9-29-26 and personnel refused to answer any questions or offer help. While there a man with 22 ram diesel came complaining about exact same problems. We talked for over one hour. Now convinced this problem is larger than advertised. Interestingly i got a text asking how i like my Ram @ 10 AM the morning and time of the error. I now wonder about a hacking of the "shut down" codes by other actors. While I purchased a 7 year warranty, that will do me no good when I'm dead from this inferior truck and a corporation that is hiding and clearly refusing necessary repairs. These issues clearly demand a class action lawsuit and cash settlement to buy-back a quality product. 52K for junk truck. Telling how I REALLY FEEL!

Service brakes, engineFiled Sep 29, 2026
While going through an automatic car wash with the engine running, the transmission in Neutral, and my foot off the brake, my truck suddenly shifted into Park and shut off. When I tried to restart it, the display showed "Key Fob Not Detected," even though the fob was in my hand. It took several attempts before the truck restarted. Fortunately, the vehicle behind me did not hit me. This happened three more times before I made it out of the wash. I have since disabled the Engine Stop-Start feature and tried again, with the same result. The truck continues to shift into Park and shut off at random while in a car wash. This is a safety concern, and I would like it diagnosed and repaired.

Occured around midnight 24/25 Sep, 2026. Started vehicle, after using it previously in the day time with no issues, to a blank instrument cluster. All gauges would not move, light up, or function in any way. Further testing shows that the primary front turn lamps were not operating. Cryise control was inaccessible. Additionally shifting from R, N, and Drive is virtually impossible at times. I have to go to park between each shift and go directly to the position desired rapidly. Dealership has informed me that it is essentially the same as the issues other display sizes are having and are recalled. A communication error. Fuses are good, battery and alternator are good as well.

After normal driving and powering down, (breaking, stopping, transmission to park, and turning truck off) the truck then lurches forward after a period of time from shutting it off. It lurches forward and then returns to its resting place. It does not do this every time and it is random with no identifiable reason that I can ascertain. The first time it happened I was at a gas station when the truck was turned off and my son got out to get a snack inside the gas station store. When walking toward the store the truck lurched forward nearly hitting my child. This problem was reported to McGovern Jeep Dodge Ram Newton, MA where they have had many opportunities to fix the problem. We have been in and out of the shop several times, with each visit lasting weeks to months. For the most recent repair (i was given the truck back on 9/17/26) the truck was in the shop nearly two months and the dealer involved a stellantis engineer and reported that they replaced the valve body/HIS repair in the transmission as well as both batteries, claiming it solved the problem. Upon return of vehicle I drove it home without turning off the car or stopping anywhere and the truck repeated the same lurching motion after powering down the vehicle. I have provided a video to Mcgovern showing the lurching and they have also stated in their notes the truck lurches 55 seconds after the truck goes to sleep. The truck was returned from McGovern with 20,223 miles and its about 25 miles from the shop to my house where the vehicle currently is. McGovern has made approximately 6 attempts to fix this issue while Planet Jeep Dodge Ram in Franklin MA has made 1 attempt to fix part of the issue. This has resulted in approximately 238 days out of service while at dealers. I have asked McGovern to tow the vehicle back to its shop to be worked on as I do not feel safe driving the vehicle. I have video of the truck lurching while off but I was not allowed to upload it on this form.

2025 Ram 1500 experiences complete engine stalling at low RPM while coasting to stops. First and only owner since June 20, 2025. Vehicle properly maintained. INCIDENTS: August 28, 2026 - stalled twice (12:30 PM at stop sign, 3:30 PM at stop light). Both times coasting with no throttle/brake input. Check engine light appeared. September 17, 2026 - Critical safety incident: Vehicle stalled while releasing brake at stop sign merging with Highway 50 eastbound (50 MPH traffic). Complete loss of power steering and brakes during highway merge. REPAIR ATTEMPTS FAILED: Dropped off September 3, returned September 10 after PCM software update. Stalling returned. Returned September 16-17 for ignition control module update. Vehicle stalled in dealership parking lot same day. Two repair attempts in two weeks - both unsuccessful. DIAGNOSTIC CODES: P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303 (cylinder misfires). Codes persist after both repairs, indicating root cause in ignition/fuel delivery system that software updates cannot fix. SAFETY HAZARD: Vehicle shuts off without warning while operating. Loss of steering/brakes during highway merge created imminent collision risk. Vehicle currently unsafe to drive. REQUEST: Investigate systematic manufacturing/design defect in low RPM stalling condition. Multiple failed repairs and diagnostic codes indicate this is not isolated component failure. Vehicle has defect despite 14 months proper maintenance by first owner. Vehicle also has issues with radio and backup system. Parts on order with no delivery date or repair date.

THIS 2025 RAM 1500 HAS AN INTERMITTENT BUT SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT THAT CAN CAUSE A LOSS OF POWER/STALL DURING THE AUTOMATIC START/STOP SEQUENCE, INCLUDING WHILE I AM IN ACTIVE TRAFFIC OR IN AN INTERSECTION. WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURS, THE TRUCK MAY NOT RESTART OR RESPOND NORMALLY WHEN I NEED TO ACCELERATE, LEAVING ME STOPPED AND EXPOSED TO CROSS TRAFFIC OR REAR-END IMPACT. THE VEHICLE HAS ALSO DISPLAYED ABNORMAL TRANSMISSION/GEAR MESSAGES DURING START/STOP OPERATION, INCLUDING PROMPTING ME TO CHANGE THE SHIFT GEAR FROM PARK WITHOUT ME INTENTIONALLY SELECTING PARK. THIS BEHAVIOR IS UNPREDICTABLE AND CREATES A REAL RISK THAT THE VEHICLE CAN BECOME IMMOBILIZED OR ENTER AN UNEXPECTED GEAR/SHIFT STATE IN TRAFFIC. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO SUBURBAN CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF GARDEN CITY, MICHIGAN, FOUR TIMES FOR THIS SAME SAFETY CONCERN. THE DEALER HAS NOT REPAIRED THE CONDITION, STATING THEY CANNOT REPLICATE IT BECAUSE IT IS INTERMITTENT. AN INTERMITTENT DEFECT THAT CAUSES STALLING OR LOSS OF PROPULSION IN TRAFFIC IS STILL A SAFETY DEFECT, AND RETURNING THE VEHICLE UNREPAIRED DOES NOT ELIMINATE THE DANGER. I AM REQUESTING THAT NHTSA INVESTIGATE THIS CONDITION ON 2025 RAM 1500 VEHICLES, INCLUDING THE START/STOP, POWERTRAIN, TRANSMISSION CONTROL, AND RELATED SOFTWARE/ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS. THIS VEHICLE HAS PUT ME IN DANGEROUS SITUATIONS MULTIPLE TIMES, AND I AM CONCERNED THAT A CRASH, INJURY, OR DEATH COULD OCCUR IF THIS DEFECT IS NOT IDENTIFIED AND CORRECTED.

We have had sudden engine shut down issues with this truck for close to a year. We have had it at the dealership several times and they say they cannot get the issue resolved and cannot duplicate it. The truck begins running rough, as you slow the vehicle to a stop, the engine dies; the message shows "auto brake disabled" use run brake to restart. After the last visit to the dealership, the engine missing is more prominent, and the stop happened as the vehicle was moving at low speed (preparing to stop and at a near stop). The dealership claims they ran the engine at idle for a length of time with no issues. They also said they drove it several miles with no issues. I picked up the truck that same day, just before they closed. I went approximately 2 miles and while stopped at a red light, the engine stopped and the auto brake warning appeared again. I drove another 4 miles to a drive-up window, as the vehicle slowed, the engine stopped, and the auto brake activated at slow speed.

After towing module recall completed, the trailer towing light comes On showing up on the dash board in yellow requesting setup, then fades off. Twice happened. Folding mirror required three depressions of folding mirror button to open. Back up camera fails and shows blue screen, no back up image. 5 times since Ownership. Downshift and up shift hard enough and jerky enough to break traction on icy roads in traffic. Winter is coming and this is a genuine safety concern. Pulling into parking spot very slowly truck went into park and applied brakes, no reason for this. Front sensors failed to operate when pull into into another park spot and only worked on restart. Both batteries failed and required replacement under warranty when truck was new with break in type miles. A/C locked up on infotainment center and could not turn off. Required three restarts. Rear view mirror has failed to dim several times. Numerous software issues and electrical. Stellantis should buy these trucks back, fix them right and then sell as used. I would like my hard earned money back on a new truck plagued with issues and is a safety hazard!

2025 RAM 1500. This vehicle has the defect described in NHTSA Recall 26V-560 (FCA Recall 83D). Since delivery, the infotainment/radio system has frozen and rebooted itself roughly 6-7 times per week. On at least four occasions the system froze while the backup camera was in active use, leaving a frozen, inaccurate image on the display while the vehicle was moving. During one incident this nearly caused me to strike a pedestrian while the camera image was frozen. Additional infotainment failures include a sudden extremely loud audio noise that cannot be turned down until the unit reboots, the radio language spontaneously changing from English to Italian, and an intermittent "SOS Unavailable" warning indicating the emergency-calling system is not functioning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer three times (6/18/2025, 1/13/2026, and 6/12/2026) and each time the dealer stated they could not replicate the problem, including on 6/12/2026, during the period the manufacturer was investigating this exact defect. I have several videos of the frozen camera display during operation and a photo of the SOS warning. A driver relying on the backup camera cannot see what is behind the vehicle when the image freezes.

On August 5, 2026 while driving my 2025 Ram 1500 with the 3.0L Hurricane engine which has approximately 25,000 miles on it, I heard a metal on metal grinding sound as I accelerated from a traffic light at approximately 20mph. The "Service engine - see dealer" warning appeared and the truck then appeared to lose power. I received no overheating warning or message and was unaware the engine had overheated. The Ram dealership determined that the thermostat failed, causing the engine to overheat, resulting in a failed head gasket and warping the cylinder head and engine block. Stellantis authorized a complete engine replacement. I was not aware the engine was overheating because no overheating warning or message displayed. My safety concern is that the engine sustained severe overheating and internal damage without warning me it was overheating. The dealership advised that the turbos were visually inspected and appeared normal, but the cause of the metal on metal grinding sound has not been identified.

Steering, electrical systemFiled Sep 2, 2026
My 2025 Ram 1500 equipped with the 3.0L High Output engine has experienced two separate incidents involving loss or severe reduction of electric power steering assist. The first incident occurred on August 23, 2026, while traveling at approximately 40 mph on a public roadway. The steering became extremely heavy, the odometer began flashing, and the check-engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to nearest Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram service department on August 24 and remained there until August 28. During that visit, the dealership determined that the main battery failed testing and replaced it. The auxiliary battery tested good. The dealership also completed RRT 25-143, RRT 25-237, and RRT 25-239, including several module inspections and software reprogramming procedures. The second incident occurred on August 29, 2026, less than approximately 36 hours after the vehicle was returned to me. At a speed of less than 10 mph, the check-engine light illuminated, the odometer began flashing, the engine shut off, and the vehicle again experienced loss/severe reduction of power steering assist. The vehicle was taken to the RAM dealership where it was purchased on August 31, 2026, for the recurring issue and is currently still at the dealership. At this time, I have not been provided a confirmed root cause or an estimated completion date. This is a significant safety concern because the loss of steering assist has now occurred twice within six days, including once at approximately 40 mph. The first repair did not resolve the condition, and the vehicle has spent the majority of that period in dealership service.

Note that the auto stop start was in the ON position for several occurrences, but even with the automatic stop/start OFF the same anomaly occurred. These events happened during rush hour traffic on I95 in the express lanes as well as inside of an automatic car wash and during that instance it resulted on another vehicle striking mine from behind. To get the vehicle to move again required me to STOP the engine, switch to PARK, RESTART the engine and release the already applied parking brake.

While operating the vehicle inside of a car wash, with the transmission in Neutral and the engine at idle (car was propelling the vehicle) the dash chimed, showed an error message for STOP START REQUIRES RESET, shifted into park and set the parking brake uncommanded. This resulted in my vehicle being struck from behind by another vehicle inside of the car wash. The only remedy to get moving again was to STOP the engine, manually shit to PARK, restart, then release the parking brake.

Incident Aug 26, 2026
Electrical system, engine, fuel/propulsion systemFiled Aug 27, 2026
My vehicle has experienced a serious and extremely dangerous loss-of-propulsion condition on three separate occasions. The first time this happened, my RAM only had 4,513 miles on the odometer. I addressed this issue with my Carl Burger Dodge advisor in writing when I dropped it off and asked him to call me about it, but he never did. He also did not add anything I mentioned on my departure paperwork. He completely ignored this liability. While driving normally in DRIVE, the truck unexpectedly shifts out of gear and effectively goes into NEUTRAL without any input from me. The “P”/Park indicator flashes, the vehicle will no longer respond to accelerator input, and I lose the ability to accelerate. To recover the vehicle, I have had to bring it to a complete stop, shift into PARK, and then shift back into DRIVE before propulsion is restored. This is not a normal transmission shift or a minor drivability concern. The vehicle is unexpectedly losing the ability to accelerate while in motion. This creates a serious safety risk, particularly in traffic, while merging, crossing intersections, or traveling at highway speeds. The condition has occurred three separate times, and I have video documentation of one of the incidents. I have also identified other reported complaints involving 2025 Ram 1500 vehicles experiencing similar unexpected loss of propulsion, neutral/gear-selection problems, flashing gear indicators, and the need to stop the vehicle and reselect PARK and DRIVE. I am therefore formally placing Ram/Stellantis on notice that I consider this a substantial safety defect and am requesting that the manufacturer repurchase the vehicle rather than simply continuing an open-ended repair process.

Subject: URGENT SAFETY ESCALATION – Unintended Highway Braking + Ongoing Defects – 2025 Ram 1500 Tungsten – VIN [XXX] – Previous $10,000 Settlement Dear Ram / Stellantis Customer Care and Escalation Team, I am writing to escalate a critical safety defect and continuing problems with my 2025 Ram 1500 Tungsten. Vehicle details: VIN: [XXX] Current mileage: 17,500 Purchased: XXX Dealership: Billion – [XXX] Owner: [XXX] In May Stellantis provided a $10,000 cash settlement related to multiple electrical and other faults. Despite that settlement, the vehicle has continued to experience significant and escalating problems. NEW SERIOUS Critical safety issue – Unintended Automatic Braking: While using Hands-Free Active Driving Assist (or related ADAS systems) at 80 mph on the freeway with a clear lane ahead, the truck has slammed on the brakes without cause. This occurred once last year and has now happened two additional times. The most recent incident (Monday) nearly resulted in a serious accident when a vehicle behind me was forced to swerve to avoid a rear-end collision. My natural reaction was also to brake, which compounded the danger. This is a clear and dangerous safety defect involving the Automatic Emergency Braking / ADAS systems. I am currently forced to continue operating the vehicle with these known faults for approximately two more weeks before Billion in [XXX] can schedule service. Additional ongoing defects and repair history: The latest issue involves the engine revs surging up and down at idle, with the engine nearly stalling before recovering. Since new (XXX), this vehicle has already been in the workshop/garage 8 times and I have been provided with 8 rental vehicles. This will now become the 9th workshop visit and 9th rental once the dealership can take it in approximately two weeks. These continued defects — especially the unintended hard braking at highway speed — substantially impair the safe INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Vehicle speed control, engineFiled Aug 23, 2026
When driving between 18/25 miles per hour the engine Revs up to 6000 RPM and truck loses power. This has happened to me twice while driving , it also happened to the mechanic at the Dealership when it was towed there. The dealership had my truck for two weeks trying to fix the problem. After running a Diagnostic test it showed no codes. Stalantis was notified and they said they will NOT do anything to try and fix the problem. This is a real problem that I have seen other people have the same problem , and Stalantis refuses to do anything about it. This is a real danger if you are driving and you have no power. This first happened to me the first time on 8/03/2026. The second time was 8/04/2026, then for the mechanic on 8/10/2026.

Steering, electrical systemFiled Aug 20, 2026
My 2025 Ram 1500 has experienced seven separate incidents in which the steering suddenly became extremely difficult or impossible to turn. The most recent incident occurred on August 20, 2026. During these events, I temporarily lose the ability to steer the vehicle normally, creating an immediate risk of a crash. A vehicle diagnostic scan recorded repeated U0131 faults for lost communication with the Power Steering Control Module in multiple control modules. The Electric Power Steering module also recorded communication faults involving the PCM, transmission, ABS, and body control module. The scan additionally showed an active B2204 ECU configuration mismatch. This steering failure has occurred seven times and has not been permanently corrected. There is no warning. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this repeated loss of steering control in the 2025 Ram 1500.

2025 Ram 1500, VIN [XXX]. Instrument cluster recall/software update performed in February 2026 after the cluster previously went blank. Since completion of the recall remedy, the digital instrument cluster has gone completely out two additional times. Both occurrences are documented by video and reported to the authorized dealer. Dealer has acknowledged the recurring problem and states they are awaiting direction from Stellantis engineering for a fix. Additionally, the vehicle has experienced two documented failures of the rear backup camera. The vehicle also currently has two unrelated safety recalls awaiting parts. I am concerned that the instrument-cluster recall remedy has not corrected the safety defect and that the recurring cluster and camera failures represent ongoing safety issues. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 26V059000 (Exterior Lighting, Electrical System) and 26V495000 (Seat Belts); however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The contact stated that while driving and towing a trailer, the brake pedal was depressed, but the trailer brakes failed to engage, causing the vehicle to drift into oncoming traffic. The contact stated that approaching drivers reacted promptly and avoided the vehicle, preventing a crash. The contact pulled over to the side of the road. An unknown warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the trailer brakes, brake lights, and taillights were inoperable while towing. The contact disconnected the trailer from the vehicle, and the vehicle operated as intended. The trailer was then transported by a U-Haul truck. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the failure was confirmed; however, the contact was informed that parts were unavailable for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that parts were available and needed to be ordered by the dealer; however, the dealer stated parts were on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that the display screen had been replaced four times due to a black screen failure. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.

On August 16, 2026, at approximately 12:00 PM, while driving a 2025 Dodge Ram Rebel GT during a rainfall event with an ambient temperature of approximately 80°F, the vehicle's glass spontaneously shattered with no external object or debris impact. The vehicle's air conditioning system was actively running inside the cab, creating a severe thermal differential against the exterior rainwater. The vehicle was also actively towing a personal watercraft trailer at the time of the failure. The glass failed with an explosive, gunshot-like noise, indicating a catastrophic release of internal glass tension rather than a stone impact. This unexpected glass blowout presents an immediate passenger safety hazard and visibility impairment while operating under towing conditions.

My RAM vehicle has several open safety recalls. For more than six months, I have repeatedly contacted my local authorized RAM dealership (Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram FIAT of Winter Haven, Address: [XXX], Phone: [XXX]) to have these safety recalls completed. The dealership has advised me that the required recall parts are unavailable and therefore they cannot perform the repairs. I also contacted RAM/Mopar customer service directly for assistance in obtaining the recall repairs and scheduling an appointment. RAM/Mopar has been unable to provide a definite date when the required parts will become available or when the safety recall repairs can be completed. I am concerned that I have been required to continue operating a vehicle with known safety recalls for more than six months without a clear repair date or an available remedy. I am requesting NHTSA's assistance in reviewing this matter and determining whether RAM/Stellantis is meeting its obligations to provide the required safety-recall remedies within a reasonable time. On October 12, 2025, while on the highway, the CEL started blinking and the truck began misfire and shutter. I was able to get to the side of the road where I discovered the truck would idle but would barely move. It was towed to the closest dealership where they attempted to reflash the PCM and ISCM which is associated with Stellantis TSB 08-31025 REV. B. The PCM was flashed but the ISCM needed to be replaced. This was successful for another 9,484 miles where the issue repeated which, I will create another incident for.

On June 29, 2025, the CEL started blinking and the truck started shuttering. I was able to pull over to the side of the road where I discovered the truck would idle but not move without stalling. I then had the vehicle towed to the nearest dealership. Upon receiving the vehicle, the dealership diagnosed a short in the wiring harness. Once the wiring harness replaced, it was discovered that the wiring harness short took out the ISCM which was then replaced, for a second time.
