ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC)

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2019 Lexus LS500, LC500, ES300h, UX250h, LS500h, Toyota Prius, RAV4 HV, 2019-2020 Toyota Prius Prime, and 2020 Corolla HV vehicles. The brake booster pump may fail causing a deactivation of the Vehicle Stability Control system and a loss of braking assist. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems."

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2020 Toyota Avalon Hybrid, Camry, Camry Hybrid and Lexus ES300h and 2019-2020 RAV4 and RAV4 Hybrid vehicles equipped with 2.5L 4-Cylinder engines. Porosity in the engine castings may result in cracks than can allow coolant to leak internally and/or externally.

SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER ARM

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2019-2020 RAV4 and RAV4 Hybrid vehicles. The front lower suspension arms may have cracks, which may result in the suspension arm separating from the front wheel assembly.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The contact owns a 2019 Toyota Rav4 Hybrid. The contact stated while driving 35-40 MPH, the message "Hybrid System Malfunction" was displayed. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and contacted the dealer, and was informed that the vehicle was safe to drive. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with excessive corrosion to the high voltage wiring harness between the high voltage traction motor and the high voltage battery. The dealer informed the contact that the failure could lead to a vehicle occupant being electrocuted. The dealer determined that the wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related to the failure of the Toyota Campaign Number: 22TE09. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle could not be covered because the mileage had been exceeded. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC

The contact owns a 2019 Toyota Rav4 Hybrid. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact discovered that an unknown fluid was leaking behind the brake pedal. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that brake fluid was leaking and that the brake booster pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.

STRUCTURE

The contact owns a 2019 Toyota Rav4 Hybrid. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the contact heard a water-slashing sound inside the vehicle. The contact performed an inspection and noticed that the driver's side rear door panel was filled with water. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The vehicle was scheduled for a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC

The contact owns a 2019 Toyota Rav4 Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to slow down, the contact became aware of an abnormal resistance on the brake pedal, which required excessive force on the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. The VSC Off warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer, who was also unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 45,000.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

The contact owns a 2019 Toyota Rav4. The contact stated that while attempting to refuel the vehicle, the pump handle would click off inadvertently, preventing the refueling the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

The contact owns a 2019 Toyota Rav4 Hybrid. The contact stated that upon approaching the vehicle, there was fuel leaking onto the floor under the fuel filler neck. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuel tank and fuel sending unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was then taken to Toyota Chula Vista (650 Main St, Chula Vista, CA 91911), South Coast Toyota (1966 Harbor Blvd, Costa Mesa, CA 92627) and Culver City Toyota (9077 Washington Blvd, Culver City, CA 90232), where the mechanics diagnosed and determined that the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and the contact sought legal advice. The failure mileage was unknown.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 TOYOTA RAV4 HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HIS WIFE WAS STOPPED, A GMC YUKON CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF VEHICLE. THE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOYED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE FACE AND MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS PROVIDED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THERE WAS NO REPORTED FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO LAKESIDE TOYOTA 3701 N CAUSEWAY BLVD, METAIRIE, LA 70002(504) 833-3311 BUT VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

MY TOYOTA RAV4 HYBRID WILL ONLY ACCEPT 9-10 GALLONS OF GAS WHEN FILLING FROM EMPTY. THE TANK IS SUPPOSED TO HOLD 14.5 GALLONS. I FIRST BROUGHT THE ISSUE TO THE DEALERSHIP IN 2019 AND THEY CLAIMED TO HAVE NOT HEARD OF THE ISSUE BEFORE. I BROUGHT IT TO THEIR ATTENTION AGAIN ON MY LAST VISIT IN JUNE 2020 KNOWING THAT IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE AT THIS TIME- A GAS TANK MALFORMATION. I WAS TOLD THERE WOULD BE A FIX IN AUGUST 2020. THERE IS STILL NO RECALL OR SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS ISSUE AND IT CAUSES ME TO FILL UP WAY TOO FREQUENTLY CONSIDERING I PURCHASE A HYBRID TO GET BETTER MILEAGE.

VEHICLE'S FUEL TANK IS LISTED BY TOYOTA COMPANY AS 14.5 GALLON CAPACITY AND, IN REALITY, THIS TANK'S SHAPE ONLY ALLOWS IT TO FILL TO APPROXIMATELY 9 GALLONS. ADDITIONALLY, THE FUEL GAUGES "MILES TO EMPTY" DOES NOT APPEAR TO READ THE AMOUNT CORRECTLY. I HAVE ALMOST RUN OUT OF FUEL ON THE HIGHWAY AS A RESULT OF THE VEHICLE'S IMPROPER READING. THE ACTUAL GAS IN THE TANK WAS MUCH LOWER THAN THE VEHICLE ITSELF TOLD ME. THE RANGE IS ADVERTISED BY THE MANUFACTURER AT APPROXIMATELY 500 MILES WHEN IN REALITY IT APPEARS TO BE UNDER 300 MILES DEPENDING ON DRIVING CONDITIONS. THIS HAS PLACED ME AND MY FAMILY IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION AS WE CANNOT ACCURATELY ESTIMATE HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN THE VEHICLE BEFORE IT IS COMPLETELY EMPTY. I HAVE SEEN THIS PROBLEM IS ACTUALLY WIDESPREAD AND OTHER OWNERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY ARE ALSO DEALING WITH THE ISSUE. TOYOTA IS ALSO STILL SELLING THE VEHICLE'S 2020 MODEL WHICH APPARENTLY HAS THE SAME PROBLEM, AND IS NOT WARNING POTENTIAL BUYERS OF THE DANGEROUS DEFECT. *TR

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

I'VE ONLY FILLED THE TANK 4 TIMES SO FAR BUT I CAN NEVER GET IT FULL. THE MOST IT WILL TAKE IS ABOUT 10 GALLONS AND THAT IS ONLY IF I STAND THERE AND FORCE FEED IT MORE GAS VERY SLOWLY WHILE PULLING THE NOZZLE OUT A LITTLE AT A TIME. I HAVE TO FILL IT WAY TOO FREQUENTLY, AND IN THE WINTER IT IS ESPECIALLY INCONVENIENT.
