STEERING,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE

When driving using cruise control, the vehicle will alarm if the driver is not holding the steering. If the driver does not take control of the steering wheel, a secondary alarm will alert the driver on the dashboard to take over steering. If the driver does not take over steering, the vehicle will aggressively pulse the brakes to alert the driver. In this vehicle, the alarm may trigger when holding the steering wheel from the side or bottom, and it generally occurs on straight or minimally curving highways. If music is turned loud, it is difficult to hear the secondary alarm and the vehicle may unexpectedly and aggressively brake even when the driver has full control of the steering wheel. To cancel the alarm may require significant input or even steering out of the lane. In wet conditions, the automatic pulsing of the brakes may cause loss of traction and total loss of vehicle control.

POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

After approximately 30 to 40 minutes of driving, my 2024 Volkswagen Jetta intermittently fails to move after coming to a complete stop. When I press the accelerator, the engine RPMs rise, but the vehicle does not move. The vehicle is in its normal driving mode when this occurs. This has happened while I was attempting to accelerate into moving traffic, leaving my vehicle stopped in the path of approaching vehicles and creating a serious collision risk. There were no warning lights or messages before the failure. In August 2026, an authorized Volkswagen dealership inspected the vehicle. The technician duplicated the failure during a test drive and recorded measurements comparing engine speed with accelerator-pedal position. The dealership then consulted Volkswagen Technical Assistance. No repair was performed. Volkswagen suspected “possible bad gas” and recommended using higher-grade fuel. However, the dealership tested my fuel and told me the results were “not too bad.” I consistently purchase fuel from reputable, high-quality stations and use the 87-octane fuel identified on the vehicle’s fuel filler flap. Volkswagen Customer CARE confirmed that the fuel filler flap provides the appropriate fuel guidance for my vehicle and that higher-octane fuel would not improve engine power. Customer CARE documented my complaint but stated that it could not authorize additional testing and would not provide further follow-up. The vehicle was returned without a repair or definitive diagnosis and remains available for inspection. I am concerned that it may again fail to move without warning while entering or crossing traffic. I am reporting this dealer-duplicated acceleration failure so NHTSA can determine whether similar incidents indicate a broader safety defect.

POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

My 2024 Volkswagen Jetta experienced a transmission control module (TCM) failure. The vehicle began having transmission problems and became essentially undriveable. It would not operate/shift normally and required repair. The Volkswagen dealer diagnosed the problem as a failed transmission control module and advised that the TCM needs to be replaced. The required TCM has now been on nationwide backorder for approximately five weeks, leaving the vehicle unable to be repaired and driven normally. I am concerned this is a safety issue because a failure of the transmission control module can cause a driver to lose the ability to properly shift or operate the vehicle. I am also concerned that the lengthy nationwide backorder may indicate that this component is failing in multiple vehicles. I am submitting this complaint so NHTSA has a record of the TCM failure and can determine whether similar failures are occurring in other 2024 Volkswagen Jettas.

VISIBILITY

The contact owns a 2024 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, there was a loud booming sound coming from the roof of the vehicle. The contact later discovered that the glass sunroof had exploded outward from the roof. At the time of the failure, the sunroof was closed. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 13,000.

SERVICE BRAKES

Brakes were replaced in 2025 after dealership said there was manufacturer issues with premature wear on the brakes. Same day brakes were replaced they started making grinding noises again. We called the dealership ship and they said it would stop with in a few days never did. Now a year later the the replacement brakes failed on us.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE

I own a Silver 2024 Volkswagen Jetta. My car stopped accelerating while I was driving on the freeway on 7/18/2026 which was a huge safety issue resulting in my car needing to be towed to the dealership because it was not drivable. The warning lights came on after the car stopped accelerating on the freeway. My car needs a ECM replacement which is covered by the Federal Emissions Warranty and I received a call from my Volkswagen representative on the case at Family Volkswagen of Burleson. The representative with Volkswagen told me on 7/25/2026 that the ECM needs to be replaced as they did not think it was safe for them to release the vehicle until this repair has been made and they were waiting for Volkswagen to authorize the repair. The representative later stated that Volkswagen will not authorize the replacement of the ECM and this is a safety concern. The dealership has not completed a repair for this issue and this vehicle does not need to be on the road for the safety of me and others. The dealership have told me I can pick up the vehicle and just bring it back if the safety issues occurs again, I refuse to pick up this car due to the safety issues and concerns. I have contacted the corporate office of Volkswagen and they have not responded to me on why they declined the authorization for this repair.

POWER TRAIN

MIL light came on in November 2025, OBD-II diagnostic trouble code P0613 - TCM processor fault. Volkswagen has had a nationwide backorder on the replacement (part no. 09H-927-158) for MONTHS. Last week, my car randomly went into Park while attempting to pull into my garage. Red transmission fault indicator lit up on dash. "Transmission faulty. Safely stop the vehicle!" Car would not shift into gear. Disconnecting battery terminals for 30 minutes caused the fault to go away. MIL light still on. If I were on the highway this could have caused an accident. I have since been seeing similar reports on websites such as Reddit for 2024 Jettas. Have been told VW has a TSB on this issue, but have yet to see it. This should probably be escalated to a recall/buyback.

On XXX around 4:15PM, i was driving my 2024 volkswagen Jetta at approximately 65 mph onXXX in [XXX] under normal weather conditions. Without warning there was a loud explosion resembling a gunshot. The panoramic sunroof glass spontaneously shattered and exploded, showering the inside of myself and my car with glass fragments. There was no leading vehicle, overpass, or evidence of road debris or rock failure. The sudden explosion caused immediate driver distraction and created a severe safety hazard. There was no crash, thankfully, and no injury other than minor scratches and earaches due to the sound. Unknown if hearing problems were caused at this point. VISIBILITY/WIPER

While sitting in the passenger seat of the car, the sunroof spontaneously exploded, causing shards of glass to go everywhere and putting my and the driver’s safety at risk while traveling at 70 mph. No one has inspected it yet and there were no warning messages prior to this issue. This happened on July 3rd, 2026 at 2pm.
